Rocker Legend Tom Petty dies at 66

Oh my...a terrible loss on a terrible day. RIP Tom. I loved you.

This is so sad. I enjoyed his music so much. He was so talented.

Oh my. Longtime fan here. Loved, loved, loved his music. Attended his concerts numerous times over the years.

David Bowie, George Michael, and now Tom Petty.

Unbelievable! One of the greats! Saw him in concert when he was a nobody way back when..."Last Dance with Mary Jane" my fave. He was young..I'm shocked. Loved him w the Traveling Wliburys, Bob Dylan...

And the esteemed prophet, Leonard Cohen. Terrible losses the last couple of years.

I tried so hard to see him this summer. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance. Tom was the only "happy" music I liked. What a horrible day. Both personally and in our world. Fly free Tom.

With Bob Dylan on "Like a Rolling Stone"--,They kill it!

Hugs and love to those who personally knew and loved this man. Ugh, can't imagine.

From American Girl in the 80s to now, TP has been in my top 5. Genuine. He felt what he wrote and sang. It wasn't just about the job or the gig. 66. So damn young, so very sad...

From Dec 2016:

Tom Petty:
40th Anniversary Tour Might Be 'Last Big One'[/h]"We're all on the backside of our sixties," Petty says. "I don't want to spend my life on the road"

"Tom Petty says his 2017 40th anniversary tour with the Heartbreakers might be his last one."

So sad that he wanted to spend more time with his granddaughter after the tour. RIP, Tom.

ETA: I still haven't gotten over losing Gregory Allman. So sad to lose the artists we've loved so much.

Saw the early news reports earlier and was very concerned... so sad to read this update. Tom Petty is basically the soundtrack of my early twenties in Atlanta and the Florida west coast. RIP. :( :rose:

Saw them in concert many years ago at the Times Union Performing Arts Center in Jax. Had very comfortable seats - none of which were used.

He even stopped at one point and joked that we could sit down. No one did. Good memories.
