PROPHETSTOWN The family of a 33-year-old kidney transplant recipient who has gone missing again, and still is not taking his antirejection medication, is looking for help locating him.
Anthony Thomas, 33, of Prophetstown, is having mental health issues related to his long-term dialysis, said his father, Kelly Russell Hicks.
The family has obtained a Whiteside County court order allowing police to hold Thomas for a mental health evaluation, but they need help finding him, Hicks said. (Such orders are not public record.)
Thomas is slender, likely wearing blue jeans and a gray Nike hoodie, and may be carrying a black dress coat. He is riding a 24-inch black mountain bike with "shocker" written in red on the crossbar, and may be heading for Dixon, where he was found Friday, or to Rochelle or the Carol Stream area, where he has friends, his dad said.
When police found him Friday, they did a wellness check and released him; he did not return home and has been missing since, his father said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Prophetstown police at 815-537-2386; the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department at 815-772-4044, the Lee County Sheriff's Department at 815-284-5217, or any local police agency.
