TX - FW father cleared in 2015 death of Ellie Mae Sanders, 2, after son confesses

A capital murder charge against a North Texas man in the 2015 death of his 2-year-old daughter has been dismissed after prosecutors learned her older brother admitted causing the death.

    <snip> http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/06...confesses.html

prosecutors learned in August the boy, now 7, had told his mother that he had hit his sister with a pillow and the pillow was too heavy to remove from the girl's head. Court documents obtained by the newspaper say the boy cried as he confessed to prosecutors in an interview at his home on Aug. 29.

He looks really upset in the mug shots, but this from the second link has me wondering:

An arrest affidavit for Sanders obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said the girl had bruises all over her body and around her eyes, blood behind her ear and two bite marks that appeared to be from an adult on her back.

And with how many terrible people we see moms getting involved with, I'm so jaded as to think maybe mom didn't want dad going away because she loves him.

Sad either way because a poor little girl is dead.

Hope the little boy gets some therapy.

How big and heavy was the damn pillow for a kid not to be able to pick it up? I reserve judgement until I have seen this giant lead pillow.

This makes ZERO sense. And I too want to see a pillow that cannot be lifted by a sever year old who was apparently able to lift it to hit her with it.......smh
Six-year-old Shannon Sherrill disappeared from her front yard in Thorntown, Indiana in October, 1986. Someone knows where she is......

He was 5 at the time but, yeah, this is what I was trying to picture. How could he not he able to lift a pillow that he had placed on his baby sister's head. At 2, she should have been able to knock it off herself. I was trying to picture a heavy pillow--stuffed with rocks???

I truly do not understand this story. The boy says he rolled it on his sister and then rolled it up to her head but could not roll it off. GOes its the dad, dad removes something heavy from the pillowcase. THe girl was suffocated so dad doesn't do anything but walk off. Never calls for help bc the girl is not breathing. How did she get all the bruises on her? Argh, far too many stories I need to sit on my hands. Not believing this story at all.

This article says the mother doesn’t believe her son! But it also sounds a little odd IMO.

“Cassie Wright said that this was the first time [her son] had told her anything like this,” the notice states. “She does not believe [her son] and does not think that what he is telling her makes sense.”

The Brady notice states that prosecutors and investigator also talked with Wright again that same day. She told them her son had told her “he killed his sister” during a counseling session in the past but that the counselor did not address the statement and no real details were solicited.
She said she never told Smith about the previous statement made in the counseling session and that she had only recently been told by her son about the pillow.

    He has a little history...

Court records show Sanders was charged in July 2011 with choking the girl’s mother, whom he later married. The case, however, was no-billed in August 2011, records show.
