I heard about this in Greta, this has to be one of the strangest cases I've ever heard about. It sounds like he was abducted by pirates or something, but then that doesn't sound right, either. I hope this friend and his family get some answers at some point. It's a shame that the Secret Service cannot help them.

very interesting fact about the boat having no gas left when it was found...

it had 180 gallons of gas unaccounted for.

Is it possible that he was arrested, by mistaken identity, by authorities and is being held as one of the "Homeland Security" prisoners? Sounds crazy I know....

Yeah, it is strange. After all is said and done, I just had to post it as his dear friend is just so dedicated to finding him. I do not believe that Jim had any involvement with any bad elements, no staging a fake death, no dirty dealings. If there are bad elements involved, then he was just as surprised as we are now.Peace,
Mary

That's a weird one.
Here's another.

Was this is the same area as Trindade's disappearance? i'm not terribly familiar with the Florida coastline and I don't have time to consult a map. Sounds like something bad going on down there. The poor Eddleman woman, both her husband and son missing.

Well I don't know which of those are the strangest. How does a boat that left the Naples area(west coast of FL, Gulf of Mexico) end up washing ashore in the Atlantic ocean on the North East coast of Florida? T-Rex, have you found any articles that lists the cause of death of Gary Lisk? I remember another case where a whole family went missing while boating around the Bahamas. If I can find the link I'll post it.

Interesting...i never though about the parental abduction theory (in the Eddleman case)

Missing man's friend vanishes himself

...when Roger Gamblin, owner of Flagler Title, and his wife, Peggy, suddenly disappeared about two weeks ago, their absence touched off some serious worry - and some very ripe rumors...

...That's because Gamblin was best friends with Jim Trindade, the popular boater and fisherman who mysteriously disappeared at sea on Jan. 12, 2006...

...(Federal Agents) are convinced that Trindade stumbled on a drug transaction at sea, between the Bahamas and Palm Beach County, was killed and then dumped in the ocean...

... They also believe Gamblin's son, Chris, who was traveling in a boat near Trindade's that day on their way back from the Bahamas, may have been involved...

Another link to this man, friend of the missing man in the OP.

Finally, some hoped, the couple would cough up information about the 2006 disappearance of their once close friend Jimmy Trindade.

But a month after they returned from 2 1/2 years on the lam, Roger Gamblin, 62, died from long-standing heart problems. Peggy Gamblin, 54, alone was left to take the fall for the collapse of Flagler Title Co. and to offer any information she had about Trindade's disappearance at sea.

On Friday, surrounded by family and friends, Gamblin was sentenced to 15 months in prison for being loyal to Roger Gamblin, her husband of 28 years, instead of turning him into authorities and admitting what she knew about the spectacular collapse of Flagler Title Co.

Nice summary of the case in a recent article:

Jim Trindade disappeared from his 38-foot Donzi in January 2006 even as it was trailed by two boats, including one occupied by the son of his close friend Roger Gamblin. The boats became separated and a Mayday call went out from Trindade’s boat. Eleven hours later, the Coast Guard found the boat about 38 miles off of St. Lucie County but Trindade was gone.

Gamblin, 58, president of Flagler Title Co., suspected hijackers. but two years later, he disappeared, his company missing $8.8 million. That sparked the theory that Trindade was killed by drug smugglers who might or might not have been working with Gamblin to close a gaping hole in his company’s finances. Gamblin was on the lam for two years but never answered the questions surrounding his friend’s disappearance: He died in federal custody a month after his capture.

In 2006, Gamblin's best friend Jim Trindade disappeared at sea between the Bahamas and South Florida. Federal agents believe he may have fallen victim to ocean-going drug traffickers, but family and friends of Trindade are skeptical of this story...

Gamblins' son and his best friend were the last to see Trindade alive and were considered persons of interest in his disappearance, says the Dept. of Homeland Security.

No charges were ever filed against the Gamblins in that particular case, but in Oct. 2009 a federal grand jury indicted the couple on eight counts accusing them of using their clients' money to finance their lavish lifestyle and pay personal and business bills...
