Eugene Raymond Rising Sun, 24, who is currently in prison on drug charges, has been indicted with first-degree murder. The indictment was filed on May 20, 2005, for an unspecified reason wasn't unsealed until now. If convicted he faces a mandatory life sentence and a $250,000 fine.
His brother, Moses Kalani Rising Sun, 21, pleaded guilty last week to the charge of being an accessory after the fact.
The indictment says Eugene Raymond Rising Sun killed LaFonda Big Leggins, 23 and Koren Nola Diebert, 26 "with malice aforethought and with premeditation'' on Nov. 18, 2003, on the Eagle Springs Road about five miles from Highway 313 on the Crow Indian Reservation.
Both were beaten so severely, they were unrecognizable when found.
