Donald Shissler, who authorities claim molested young boys for five decades, posted a $200,000 bond Friday and was released from the Denver jail.

The release alarmed Denver prosecutor Kerri Lombardi, who had fought to keep Shissler, 72, behind bars.

"I consider him to be a risk and a danger to the community," Lombardi said. "This is somebody who once pleaded guilty and has had a taste of prison. Therefore, he could be a flight risk."

Earlier this month, Lorri Brovsky, an investigator for the Denver district attorney's office, testified in Denver County Court that a boy now 14 told authorities that Shissler molested him more than 100 times between the ages of 6 and 11.

OMG....that is scary. I guess they should have set bail a little higher to avoid ever having to deal with this. Perhaps they should have set no bail. Unbelievable.

SHISSLER FOUND GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS

A 74-year-old man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting young boys has been convicted by a Denver jury today. Donald Shissler (dob: 05-07-33) was found guilty on six counts of sexual assault on a child (F4), six counts of sexual assault on a child – position of trust (F3), two counts of sexual assault on a child – pattern of abuse (F3), and one count of sexual exploitation of a child (F3). The counts reflect the sexual assault of three different victims.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Kerri Lombardi and Deputy DA Christine Washburn were the
prosecutors on the week-long trial. After hearing closing arguments, the jury took less than three hours of deliberation to find Shissler guilty on all counts. The verdict comes five years after a 2002 guilty plea by Shissler was overturned.

The three young victims in the case were assaulted sexually repeatedly between 1997 and 2002. One of the victims was only 6-years-old when Shissler first assaulted him.

Sentencing will be held in courtroom 11 this coming Monday, July 16, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.

DENVER - A former foster parent found guilty of sexually assaulting three children was sentenced to over two centuries in prison.

Donald Shissler, 74, was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting three young boys between 1997 and 2002. On Friday he was found guilty of sexual assault charges. On Monday, District Court Judge Martin Egelhoff sentenced him to 210 years in prison.

Shissler was convicted in 2002 and was sentenced to 24 years to life in prison before a new trial was granted last year.

Note: I'm still trying to figure out how he went from being tried and sentenced in Denver County to 210 years to federal custody with a release date of 2019. I know it's the same guy because of his birth date.

A former foster parent and one-time Episcopal priest suspected by Denver authorities of molesting young boys for five decades has been indicted on charges of distributing and receiving child *advertiser censored*.

Donald George Shissler, 72, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver last week. The indictment was unsealed Monday.

The indictment alleges that in June, July and August of 2001 and in February 2002, Shissler used his computer to transmit "graphic images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct."

During seven months in 2001, Shissler received child *advertiser censored* over his computer, according to the indictment. The *advertiser censored* showed graphic images of minors engaged in sex, the indictment said.

Note: He was apparently charged in federal court for the child *advertiser censored* and is serving the federal sentence first. I assume, should he survive the federal stint, he will then be transferred back to Colorado custody to serve the 210 years.
