On Friday, Salma Bounajra, a 10th grader, left her house on Holcomb Bridge Road at 8 a.m. to walk to class at Fulton County School’s northeast campus of PEAK Academy on Old Alabama Road, police said. The school told her parents that she never arrived to class.

Police in Roswell are asking for the public’s help to locate Bounajra. She is 15, about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds with long curly black hair and dark brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing black Adidas athletic pants, with a stripe down the side, along with red Nike flip-flops and a black Nike jacket.

Roswell Police said initially said they believed the teen has run away before, though there was no formal documentation. However, Bounajra's family insists that she has never done that before.

On Thursday, police revised their original statement, agreeing with Bounajra's family that the teen simply didn't run away. The following Monday, police said they got new information that coincided with their initial statement that Bounajra was in fact a runaway.

Nevertheless, the teen's family still wants her to come home safely.

UPDATE (12/1/17): About three weeks after she went missing, a Roswell teen was safely found, police said.

Salma Bounajra, a 10th-grader, was located by police on Nov. 30.


No other information was immediately available from police.

According to a family spokesperson and CAIR representative, Bounajra was found earlier today by law enforcement and has been reunited with family. The spokesperson issued a statement on behalf of the family saying:

"We are pleased and relieved to report that law enforcement located Salma alive earlier today, reunited the 15 year-old with her family, and apprehended a suspect in her disappearance. We thank the Ros well Police Department, the FBI, and community members who spread the word, offered prayers, and otherwise worked to find Salma. We hope to learn and release additional details in the coming days. In the meantime, thank you again to everyone, and please give the family privacy. They are already being overwhelmed with phone calls and visits."

Bounajra was located in a Stone Mountain neighborhood with 23-year-old Elijah Andrews. Andrews has been charged with interference with custody, aggravated child molestation and statutory rape. All evidence supports that Bounajra left willingly with Andrews, who picked her up from her residence in Roswell. Bounajra was located during the early morning hours on Friday.
