Murray, a 3-year-old shepherd mix, was off-leash and had stopped in the wooded area.

"It was taking a little too long so I went back to check what he was sniffing and saw what looked like... a bone of an arm with a hand still attached to it, possibly," Sheats said. "Kind of just grabbed him and ran out of the woods really quick and called 911."
The body was found in a wooded area just north of Highway 62 near Cedar Avenue South. Sgt. Catherine Michal said the body was "partially buried" and that they are working on removing it from the ground. At this time, she said they do not know how long it's been there or even whether it's a male or female.

Michal did not say what the body was covered with, but she said it did not appear to be natural.

"I would say that the body was covered by another human being," she said. "So it's not just leaves that were out there or little tiny branches that fell down."

Sheats said it appeared the body was covered with logs.

Authorities have identified a woman whose body was discovered in woods south of Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.

She is Reidun M. Henrickson, 34, who has no permanent address, the Hennepin County medical examiner disclosed Wednesday.

Details on circumstances of Henrickson’s death and when she died are still pending, the medical examiner said.

Pierre LaGrandeur, Henrickson’s stepfather, said Wednesday afternoon that he last spoke with her on Oct. 11, but he declined to say much else about her.
LaGrandeur, who lives in West St. Paul, said the family had filed a missing person’s report with St. Paul police once they lost contact with her.

RIP Reidun :rose:

This is a pretty upscale part of Minneapolis and a really strange choice for hiding a body - someone could have opted for the river or falls nearby, or any of the smaller lakes, a dumpster around the huge shopping and industrial complex you see marked as Windom on the map...it makes me think the person who put her there lives nearby or she died where she was concealed. They likely approached via Cedar which hits a dark patch before it turns into 60th, they could have easily pulled off, dumped and been gone. I wonder what she was doing in the Twin Cities?

There is a very different vibe between her first facebook profile and the latest.

fwiw, this is not an upscale area of Minneapolis. It’s very much a working class neighborhood.

Sadly she took her own life :(

Welcome MNLumberjack! Do you have a source for this info? How did she come to be partially buried and covered by logs if it was suicide? Just curious how that is possible...

Investigators said the remains were partially buried and looked like someone tried to cover them.

Wednesday, authorities said the remains are those of 34-year-old Reidun Henrickson.

Henrickson’s time of death is listed as 10:13 a.m. Sunday. Her cause of death has not been determined.

The incident is still under investigation.

A woman found dead in a Minneapolis park may have ties to the Twin Ports area.

On Wednesday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as 34-year-old Reidun Marie Henrickson. The report said Henrickson had no permanent address, but a Facebook page in her name lists her current city as Superior and shows a profile picture taken in Canal Park.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.

A friend of mine went to high school with her and had recently been in touch with her again. She dealt with addiction and fairly severe mental illness her whole adult life. She left a very cryptic note (my friend stopped short of calling it a suicide letter however), to her family before she went missing the week prior.

I don’t know the exact details of her death yet, the area where she was found is a very small little wooded area off of Highway 62 and we had a crazy windstorm the week of her death, so that might explain the branches/leaves.

Thank you for the additional info, but it sounds like that is only rumor at this point. The most recent news articles I can find say that LE are treating this as a homicide investigation. Even people who struggle with drug abuse can be murdered-- in fact, struggling with drugs could make them MORE vulnerable or a target if someone wants to harm them (JMO). If it's not homicide, she might have overdosed accidentally and been hidden by "a friend" after it happened. We should not assume suicide based on only rumors (JMO).

So very sad. If it is a homicide like stated..people that are into heavy drugs sometimes keep the wrong company. I remember seeing a episode of First 48 and a man was bludgeoned to death with a wood stick inside his tent in the woods (homeless) because another homeless man that was so strung out on drugs and paranoid thought the man in the tent stole it.
Prayers to the family for such a loss. Mental illness on top of drug use is so heart wrenching to watch a loved one go thru.

Fair enough.

I’m confident in what I was told personally, but the proper info will be released in time I’m sure.

From her previous arrest history, there is no disputing Reidun was struggling with drugs (and that is very sad in and of itself), however, what I find very interesting is that a warrant was put out for her arrest on Nov 21, 2017 for a charge of bribery: https://www.sheriffofdouglascountywi.org/warrants.php?orderby=1

I'm guessing the "FTA" in that charge stands for "failure to appear" and she had been previously charged with bribery in Douglas County, WI but failed to appear for a court date because she was no longer alive. Perhaps that charge was a motive for someone to harm her? I hope that police are sincerely investigating. JMO.
