Tyler Logan, 19, walked into a Lubbock courtroom Tuesday morning, looking visibly upset and talking to himself. Once in front of the judge, Logan began to cry when he was told he was charged with killing his mother, Vicki Logan, and his 73-year-old grandmother, Wanda Turner. Police say that Logan killed both using his bare hands and rope.

Late Tuesday evening, KAMC-28 sat down with Tyler Logan`s best friend, who was the last person to see him before he turned himself in.

Brice Smith felt it was necessary for him to come forward and not only talk about Logan as a person, but to share what the last few moments with him were like.

"He kept telling me, `I didn`t do it, I didn`t do it`," recalls Smith. "I kept saying `If you did, tell (the police).`"

Smith says he told Tyler that on Sunday, just hours before he drove him to the sheriff`s office to turn himself in.

"We sat in the sheriff`s office parking lot for 10 minutes. "He said, `Come back and get me`," remembers Smith, of the conversation. "(He told me), `I just lost my mom and grandma, now I have to worry about staying out of jail.` He said, `I love you, I`ll call you,` took a deep breath, and walked into the sheriff`s office.

MY GOD-------------TEXAS HAD HAD A BAD DAY TODAY

Lubbock is having a bad year, with our drought at 98 days now, the crime rate continues to rise. That has to have something to do with it. We've had bank robberies, murders, kidnappings, home invasions, car jackings, arsons, etc. It just seems to be so much worse here lately.

Did Lubbock have a big influx in Katrina evacuees?

We did, but only a handful have stayed. I can't explain what is going on here, it's has been pure chaos.

I hope it calms down soon. It must be scary to see crime shoot up like that.

I haven't heard about home invasions and car jackings happening here. How scary. I think it's due to drugs. About a year and half ago there was a motorcyclist randomly shot and killed on a main street late at night just because some nut was in a rage or most likely a drugged state.

We had a home invasion 2 blocks from our house about a month ago, 2 guys attacked a 61 year old woman and threw her to the ground, and there have been several others within the last few months. We have been keeping our doors locked for a long time now. Car jackings are rare, but there have been a few. I stay in tune with the news thanks to dh, he watches it every night. It is definetely going up, either that or they are reporting it more.

A Lubbock teen is indicted by the grand jury for capital murder. On Tuesday, Tyler Logan, 19, was indicted for capital murder less than two weeks after the bodies of his mother and grandmother were found. Logan is accused of killing Vicki Logan, 52 and Wanda Turner, 73.
