Calvin Charles Zimdars remains missing and is at risk of “self-harm.” Zimdars is white, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, medium build, 170 pounds with blue eyes and black, salt-and-pepper hair. He is likely dressed in western apparel with a large belt buckle and Wrangler jeans. His daughter said her father was last seen at his home on Sugarloaf Mountain Road in Glen on Thursday and it’s highly unusual for him to be gone this long without contacting family and friends. Glen is located between Butte and Dillon.

The search in Beaverhead County for a missing 56-year-old man entered its fifth day Wednesday as “several dozen” searchers attempted to locate the man.

There are some indications Zimdars might have felt despondent about the circumstances of recent events in his life. Zimdars had turned his horse out so it could graze on its own and not rely on feed — an action he said was one indication Zimdars did not expect to return home.

Zimdars might have hiked into the hills around his home. He was said to be familiar with that terrain and with the area of the Grasshopper Valley.

Beaverhead Search and Rescue and the Sheriffs Office have suspended active search operations after nine days of extensive searching. Search operations will be reactivated upon any credible new information.

Plans have been made to conduct a follow-up search after the snow melts.

• Clothing/Jewelry Description Western-style clothes, including Wrangler jeans, a belt with a large buckle, and a black cowboy hat, and a wristwatch on his left wrist.
• Medical Conditions Zimdars's family believes he may be at risk of harming himself.
• Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Graying black hair, blue eyes. Zimdars has scars on his neck, mostly around the back and sides. He has a three-quarter-inch thick, raised scar on the right side of his abdomen above his him and small scars on his chin. He had a graying dark brown/black beard at the time of his disappearance. Zimdars did have prescription eyeglasses, but didn't always wear them, and they were left behind at home.

Details of Disappearance
Zimdars was last seen at his home in the 1000 block of Sugarloaf Mountain Road in Glen, Montana on November 29, 2017. He has never been heard from again. It's possible he went hiking in the hills or mountains near his home. He is very familiar with the area near his home and in Grasshopper Valley, and enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking and working cattle.

Authorities believe Zimdars, who had been having personal problems, was despondent and may not have intended to return home. He turned his horse out to graze, an indication he planned to be gone for an extended time period. As both his vehicles were left behind at his residence, it's possible he left on foot.

It's highly uncharacteristic of Zimdars to not be in touch with his family and friends. His son took his own life in July 2018, eight months after Zimdars disappeared, and he may be unaware of this. His case remains unsolved.

He especially loved the time he spent with his Dad, Calvin. They enjoyed fishing at Agnes Lake, hiking to Sawtooth Lake, storytelling, and trying to beat each other at card games. Charlie’s hope for his beloved father, was that he ran off with a beautiful woman to Hawaii. May they be reunited again when the time arrives
