Carol Matsui, 89, she vanished Wednesday afternoon from her home in Vintage Park in south Sacramento. Matsui is described as a 5-foot-2 Asian woman weighing about 110 pounds, with shoulder-length grey hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a multi-colored floral blouse, a red vest, a black fleece jacket and blue jeans.

Matsui was last seen leaving her house on the 7500 block of Sunnyside Way between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. She suffers from a medical condition that causes her to become easily disoriented and wears an identification bracelet with emergency contact information.

Deputies are searching around Matsui’s home and relying on tips from neighbors. The boy who lives across the street told Matsui’s son that he saw the 89-year old walking down the road around 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. But another person said they saw her near the Golden 1 Credit Union on Elk Grove Florin Road.

Family members confirm missing 89-year-old woman Carol Matsui was found dead Sunday.

Matsui's son, Roger, said someone found her body in a drainage canal along Iona Way in Sacramento.

The victim's identity has been confirmed by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office as 89-year-old Carol Matsui, who was reported missing on December 6, 2017.
