“I wasn’t able to see the body, so I can’t tell you what happened. I can’t tell you if it was a blunt force or if it was a mauling, but I know those dogs didn’t do it,” Barbara Norris said.

Friends say Stephens had recently been receiving death threats prior to the incident, which is another reason why they question whether the dogs were to blame.

Oh Lordy! How sad.

Pit bulls < cough>.........I couldn't have a dog with the potential to kill.

I am pretty sure the Medical Examiner could easily tell if those neck wounds were caused by her pit bulls. Wouldn't there be plenty of forensics tying her dogs to the attack?

Websleuths, have at this. It reeks of suspicion to me, even though LE is claiming that the forensic evidence does not support murder. Watch the video where her friend claims the dog’s kennels were forced open. She raised these dogs from puppyhood, they were not shelter rescues with unknown backgrounds. Let me know what you all think.

I hope you would never have ANY large dog then. [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

Assuming the dogs were male I wonder if they had been neutered?

Does anyone know if there are any stats on how many of these deaths were caused by intact dogs?

It seems to me when a story like this is reported and I actually see the dogs in the media they are intact.

Thanks,
Tricia

I also had doubts about this story immediately as I read it. Why would the same dogs who kill someone stay around to guard and defend that same body? Red flags.

On the other hand, how would an attacker get past those two dogs who presumably would have defended her in the first place?

Wait, what? Some people think she was murdered by someone and *then* she was attacked by her dogs? Or that someone murdered her and was able to make it look like it was dog bites so people would think her dogs did it?

First of all, the banner floating across the page announcing this is incorrect. It's Goochland, not Goodland.

I see the Goochland county sheriff described the dogs as "pit bulls" and the media ran with it. JMO, but with their brindle coloring and size, they appear to be presa canarios, or Canary mastiffs. Presa canarios are big, strong dogs and can weigh up to 130 lbs. The sheriff described them as "very large" and weighing 120-125 lbs. The sheriff also said, "He suspected that the dogs had been bred for fighting." Though, the sheriff doesn't go into specifics on why he thinks they were bred for fighting.

“According to the American Humane Association approximately 92% of fatal dog attacks involved male dogs, 94% of which were not neutered. ”

https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/care/spayingneutering.htm

“Intact (non-neutered) male dogs are responsible for approximately 80 percent of fatal bites.”

Other reports they were raised to fight. Owning two pit bulls is like owning two alligators. Why? These dogs snap. A lot! No denying the violent nature of these dogs. Statistics back me up. Many people killed by these dogs, I’m not talking dog bites.

Her death marks the fourth person killed by pit bulls in the USA just since November 29th.
