    Craig Rabinowitz strangled his wife, Stephanie, then tried to make it look like she drowned in the bathtub. He needed her life insurance proceeds to maintain his expensive relationship with a stripper.

    This list is incredible. No wonder the profilers say that most women are killed by their spouses/significant others. I am glad to be over the hill.

    And, that, is a very good point. The fine line while looking for ratings.The victims are there....whether it is loyality, economics or just plain survival. There is always someone to take advantage.

    Fifteen hundred American women are murdered by husbands or boyfriends each year. (FBI Uniform Crime Statistics-1996)
    <snip>
    A third of all women's injuries coming into our emergency rooms are no accident. Most are the result of deliberate, premeditated acts of violence. And frequently they occur over and over until the woman is killed. (Dr. Kevin Fullin, American Medical Association, public service ad, Time magazine)

    Thirty-four percent of the women homicide victims over age 15 are killed by their husbands, ex-husbands or boyfriends. (National Women Abuse Prevention Project)

    On average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in this country every day. In 1999, 1,642 murders were attributed to intimates; 74 percent of the murder victims (1,218 total) were women.

    Rob Marshall killed his wife Maria.

    Rob Marshall, a well-to-do New Jersey businessman, was knocked unconscious at a picnic area, and Maria, his wife, was killed. Police investigation led to Marshall's trial. Joe McGinnis penned "Blind Faith" after this story.

    It is heartbreaking the loss of all these women and children!

    I wonder, in how many of these murders were there previous signs of violence by the husband? In many cases it's reported that no one had any idea there were problems in the marriage and the husband had never before been violent or even in trouble with the law.

    Many of the Scotty supporters refuse to believe he's guilty because he was always known to be "kind and supportive" and had never had so much as a traffic ticket. How rare (or common) is that?

    On July 7, 1997, Pegye Bechler and her husband, Eric, rented a boat and headed out into the harbor. It was Eric's idea a romantic cruise off the Newport Beach, CA coast to belatedly celebrate their anniversary and her birthday. But by nightfall, Pegye was missing and Eric was sobbing uncontrollably in front of local news cameras. Her body was never found and it appeared to be a tragic accident. As police investigated Pegye's disappearance, they began to suspect a boating accident might be a case of homicide.

    ...and the rest of the story...Eric Bechler murdered his wife, Pegye. He confessed to his girlfriend, Tina New, that he did it 'partly for the life insurance money and partly because of the kids...'

    The infamous Atlanta man's murder-suicide spree last week claimed his wife and two children as well as nine colleagues at All-Tech Investment and Momentum Securities, two of the industry's biggest players.

    Mark Barton was the day trader. He later killed himself. He is also suspected of killing his first wife and her mother.
