KS - Jordan Gunter, 11 mos, beaten to death, Wichita, 17 Feb 2006

Infant's life had share of tragedy

Jordan Gunter moved in with an aunt to escape a life on the streets. His parents are both currently in jail.

Little Jordan Gunter's parents were homeless, and they knew the streets were no place for a baby.

They signed guardianship of Jordan over to an aunt last year, hoping to protect him from strangers and give him a stable home environment.

But now the aunt's boyfriend sits in the Sedgwick County Jail, awaiting charges of murder and child abuse in Jordan's death -- and the infant's funeral will have to be delayed until authorities can arrange to have his parents transported to Wichita from eastern Kansas jails where they are now serving time.
