Murder Suspect Apprehended In Mexico, Police Say
Man Accused In Mother's 2002 Killing, Authorities Say
A man accused of killing a mother of three more than 3 1/2 years ago is finally in jail, KSAT 12 News reported.
U.S. Marshals and Atascosa County investigators had been looking for Ernest Jimenez since the victim, Carmen Alcaraz, disappeared on Halloween in 2002.
On Friday, Jimenez was arrested in Nuevo Laredo on a Mexican provisional warrant.
Alcaraz's family said it has been tough and that it is ready for justice.
"We were just wondering when my sister was going to have her final justice, and it seems to be unfolding," said Alcaraz's brother, Daniel Lopez.
Lopez said he was surprised when a detective handling the case called him, telling him of the arrest.
Lopez and the rest of the family said it is faithful that justice will be served.
Jimenez was being transferred to Mexico City to face extradition back to the United States, where he will face murder charges, authorities said.
