Identified! WV - Hancock Co., Body found in Ohio River, Mar'06 - William Mills

Investigators said the body had been in the river for quite some time. The longer a body is in the water, the more difficult identification becomes.

West Virginia State Police, who are leading the investigation, still do not know how the man ended up in the river.

Hancock County Sheriff Mike White said police are currently treating the case as a homicide.

State police have confirmed that a body found in the Ohio River on Thursday is that of a black man from Allegheny County, Pa.

Local police said the man may be a person of interest in Allegheny County.

HANCOCK COUNTY, WV -- The West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that a body found in the Ohio River last week is the key suspect in a Pittsburgh-area murder case.

Police said 35-year-old William Harvey Mills was suspected of killing his live-in girlfriend in the Pittsburgh suburb of Swissvale last month.

Mills has been missing since Feb. 14, the day before police found the body of 37-year-old Deirdre Johnson in the couple's home.

A badly decomposed body found floating in a river in West Virginia last week is "very likely" that of a Swissvale man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend last month.

William Harvey Mills, 35, hasn't been seen since the morning of Feb. 15 when the body of Deirdre Johnson, 37, a school bus driver, was found inside the couple's Lilmont Drive home.

Police search for dead woman's vehicle
Police on Friday were searching motel and hotel parking lots in Allegheny County to look for the missing sport-utility vehicle of a Swissvale woman who was shot to death earlier this week.

The black Infiniti full-size SUV with the Pennsylvania license plate GFF-063 might be being driven by William Harvey Mills, 35, who police are seeking to question in the slaying of his girlfriend, Deirdre Johnson, 37. Johnson's body was found Wednesday morning in the bedroom of the couple's Swissvale home.

Mills, who works as a housing maintenance worker in West Mifflin, didn't show up for work Wednesday morning and hasn't been seen since. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
