GAHANNA, Ohio -- Police said that a couple who were walking their dog came across a badly decomposed human skeleton on Sunday.


"It was obviously human," said Gahanna police Sgt. Pat Millenbaugh.


Investigators have yet to determine the person's exact age, but said the body was a white woman in her late teens or early 20s, NBC 4 reported.


Police said that although there were no signs on trauma on the body, they are treating the death as a homicide.

Oh, this gives me chills. There are so many women missing from that area......
 
In one sentence the article mentions that the remains had been buried in a shallow grave, then it says that the investigators don't think that the remains drifted there. Curious, the way it is worded.
No clothing was found, with others that have been found usually they were clothed, partially clothed, or the clothing was found nearby.
Those that have been found, I think were often found in a park or area outside the city. Usually they weren't buried.
Of those missing, not located, I am sure there are some families there right now who don't know if they feel relieved or fearful. Very scary time, waiting to hear.
For someone to take them to that particular area, and dig a shallow grave, it would almost be like they knew where they could go and spend time digging, without being caught. Esp. since the area was popular with walkers.
 
This story just gets stranger and stranger. The man they have arrested became a suspect when his younger brother went in to talk to the police about the crime. The mother of the suspect has been arrested for tampering with evidence, allegedly for burying the shovel her son used to bury the body. And when police went to the family's house, the father of the suspect went into the house and committed suicide.

Sounds like the family has known this whole time what happened to this young mother and stayed silent. I feel sort of bad for the younger brother, who tried to do the right thing by going to the police and has had his family ripped apart.

A Gahanna man today admitted killing a developmentally disabled woman he had befriended, but offered no explanation why.

Donald Coleman III, 25, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the death of 28-year-old Amy Phillips...

According to police, Coleman and his mother devised a suicide plan so he could avoid arrest. They drove around looking for a spot where he could use a hose attached to the exhaust to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. For some reason they could not decide on a suitable location.
