An 87-year-old woman who fled 30 years ago before she could be sentenced for killing a 13-year-old boy was arrested at her apartment, authorities said.

Otero was found guilty of second-degree murder in 1976 for the shooting death of Johnny Perez. A judge released her on $50,000 bond to get her personal affairs in order before sentencing.

Justice never comes to late! This is reminds me of the young man who was shot by the old man for walking on his lawn. Even at 87 I'm glad she's finally been caught. Hopefully she will finally be sentenced, she still needs to pay for what she did.

A judge sentenced an elderly woman to 31 years and six months in prison Friday for killing a 13-year-old boy three decades ago.

Maria Josefa Otero fled 30 years ago before she could be sentenced for killing Johnny Perez...

In 1975, Johnny and four friends jumped into the pool of an upscale waterfront apartment building owned by Otero. Otero reportedly stood on the balcony of her apartment building and ordered the youths to leave. Perez was fatally shot in the back of the head as he ran away. Otero said during the sentencing that her .38-caliber revolver had accidentally discharged when she slipped on the balcony.
