SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Kim Bogue said her prayers have been answered.

She lost a wallet and figured her $900 was gone for good. She had been saving the money for a trip to her native Thailand.
A homeless man found the wallet in a Southern California garbage bin while looking for cans to recycle. Bogue had accidentally tossed the wallet in the trash when she threw out her lunch leftovers at the office.

That was very nice of her to show her gratitude.

A similar thing happened to me (although on a smaller scale). When I was a student I had withdrawn a sizeable amount of cash to pay my rent, as the bank hadn't yet sent me my new chequebook. Then I went and left it in the student bar (and no, I wasn't drunk). I really wasn't expecting to see it again, and was about to ring my dad in tears when I heard my name over the loudspeaker- someone had handed it in, cash intact. That taught me not to be so cynical about the goodness of people.

College is a bad time to lose your money. I was in a Pay and Pack It store and had $300 cash in my hand. I guess I dropped it while shopping and I had a full cart of stuff. When I went to pay for it, I noticed my money was gone and I was in tears. An old man was at the customer service office talking to the clerk about the money he found and he gave it to me when he saw me crying.

You just don't hear enough about the kindness of strangers.
