ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Police said a group of seventh-graders hatched an elaborate plan to cut off power and telephone service to their middle school, slay classmates and faculty with guns and knives, then escape from their small Alaska town.

The students, who were being held at the Fairbanks Youth Facility, could face charges of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, authorities said.

The North Pole boys, whose names were not released, were among 15 students at the school who were suspended after a parent tipped police Monday evening. A child told the parent that rumors were circulating about the alleged plot, which had been postponed from Monday until Tuesday, Lindhag said.

I think they should make an example out of these kids. I hate to see young lives thrown away, but these kids were willing to kill many others. They would have went to jail anyway. Give them what they deserve.

This article mentions the various school plots of the last week or so. Gees, what is going on with children?!

NORTH POLE, Alaska The arrests of six boys accused of planning an assault on their school has gripped this small Alaska town with an unsettling epiphany: If it can happen here, it can happen anywhere.

As the nation last week remembered the 13 victims of the Columbine High School massacre, authorities say similar plots were being discussed in at least four small towns in Alaska, Kansas, Mississippi and Washington.
