Woodland Township,NJ-

A human body was found in a shallow grave in the New Jersey Pinelands.

The body was discovered in Brendan Byrne State Forest in Woodland Township, in Eastern Burlington County.

Investigators hope an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday will determine how the person was killed. Police don't know how long the person has been dead or even if it was a man or a woman.

Police said contractors working on a dam found the badly decomposed body around 10 a.m. Monday.

Investigators said the body appeared to be in a shallow grave and was partially wrapped in plastic. Detectives brought bags of evidence from the scene, a remote area forest service officials said is usually not visited by the public because the only thing beyond the tall pine trees are cranberry bogs.

The body is so badly decomposed that one investigator described it as partially skeletonized
....
definately sounds like a suspicious death.. wonder if this could be Richard Petrone or Danielle Imbo...?

I'm wondering the same thing.

That is an area that one would pass when going from Phila. to Tom's River (which is where Imbo's husband lived, I believe).

I was thinking the exact same thing too!
I always have those two in my thoughts, knowing that maybe someday we might hear something.

I remember how remote those areas were from having an Aunt who lived in Burlington.

I hope they are searching the area for more possible victims.
The plastic is a little strange however since that couple went missing in Philly.

I often think about Danielle and Richard.. for the life of me i just can't understand how there has been no trace of either of them or of Richard's truck. I just keep hoping somehow that somehow their families will get some sort of closure.. especially since there are children involved.

The first thing I thought of was Danielle. However, the body was a female, 4'5" tall, wearing a white tank top and a blue skirt.

Danielle was much taller and wearing blue jeans. I did do a quick search of NJ State Police's missing person list, and found the following possible matches:

http://webdb.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/njsp/mpdisplay.cgi?mpid=48
Jocelyn Cermervil

http://webdb.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/njsp/mpdisplay.cgi?mpid=318
Francheska Martinez-Gissat

http://webdb.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/njsp/mpdisplay.cgi?mpid=319
Misheila Martinez-Gissat

Of the three, Francheska is the closest - both in height and in clothing. Her pink shirt easily could've bleached to white, and the denim would've stayed blue. Of course, then the question becomes - where is her sister?

One of these sites has a typo... the link provided in the first post of the thread states:

<SNIP>

".... Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the body was female, that she was 5 feet 4 inches tall and wearing a white tank top and blue pants...."

5'4" certainly makes more sense. And gee, its blue pants, not a skirt. That's what I get for watching CBS, I guess :snooty: Well, it could be Danielle, although.. Where's Rich?

Francheska has been missing since 1987. The remains that were found were decomposed, not skeletonized, so I doubt if it is her. Patterson is also very far north from that area.

The woods where this body was found are used a lot for camping and hiking, etc. I do remember that there have been a couple of young women reported missing in South Jersey in the last two years, but I can't recall any names right now.

And I like CBS... LOL! 4' 5" would make sense if it's a child...

Marianne DeMartin is one who just disappeared into thin air from a safe area. Mt. Laurel is only about 30 miles away from the state forest.

Whoever buried a body there probably was someone local who frequented the area. Although there are two main arteries that go through there (from the suburbs to the shore), there are thousands of acres of woodlands surrounding them. Someone who wasn't familiar with those woodlands would probably get lost going back that far - or be afraid that they'd get lost.

I just read it again and it DOES say 4'5".

Do you think that's a mistake?

Both NBC and ABC are reporting the 5' 4" height and the clothing description of white tank top and blue pants.....

Danielle's cothing doesn;t appear to be a solid fit with those found with the remains. But perhaps she had the tank top underneath her sweater that evening? Her height is however a good fit .. better than some of the others listed above.

I sometimes wear tank tops under sweaters especially if it's an itchy type of sweater. IF it is Danielle I hope they find Richard's body soon too.

I noticed out on the website for Danielle that in many of the additional photos of her she is wearing sleeveless shirts or tank tops...just wondering if that means anything...

Cops think they can ID body-SNIPS FROM ARTICLE

Authorities apparently suspect they know the identity of a woman whose badly decomposed body was found Monday in a state forest in the Jersey Pine Barrens.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said that investigators "feel with some of the evidence collected" yesterday at the shallow gravesite, where the body was found, that they will be able to make an identification "fairly quickly."

A state police forensic anthropologist was expected to examine the body today and possibly determine the woman's race, Jones said.

Only a scant description of the woman - 5 feet 4, wearing a white tank top and blue jeans - was given by authorities yesterday.

I emailed local news to see if I missed something, got a response:

No. Police still have nothing new to announce.
