VT - 15 year old girl went to Maine with man met on MySpace

ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- A 15-year-old girl was back in Vermont Thursday, two days after going to Maine with a man she met on the Internet site MySpace.com, police said.

Ashley Palmer, of St. Albans, was found at an interstate rest area in Maine, with Chad Alexander, 18, of Rangeley.

Police say the two met on the Internet. Investigators are trying to determine how long the two had been corresponding.

St. Albans Police Chief Gary Taylor said investigators were also trying to determine if the two had an improper physical contact.

Taylor said Ashley left voluntarily, but because she is underage Alexander could face kidnapping or custodial interference charges.

The link did not work, since I have not seen this 15yo Myspace, I really can not comment but there is not a big age difference between 15 and 18 especially if this girl is one of those girls that listed her age as 100 years old. Since she left voluntarily, she bears some of the responsibility. Kidnapping is a pretty harsh sentence for a young man to have put on him when she may have gone for a booty call. JMO

A missing Vermont teenager has been found safe -- hundreds of miles away. 15-year-old Ashley Palmer of St. Albans was located late last night in Maine. She had been missing since Tuesday. Police say she was with an 18-year-old man she met on the popular website MySpace. Police are not sure if charges will be pressed in the case. Authorities say Palmer told the man she was 17.

Where were her parents? How does she just up and go to Maine? She's so lucky to be alive.

Maine's not that far from Vermont.
And it's odd that she's a 15 yer old girl and he's an 18 year old "man".
Since when did 18 become the age of majority in this country?

Her MySpace acct says she's 17. Links for both provided as follows:

    Ashley Palmer

    Chad Alexander

And yes, I agree. Kidnapping is a rather harsh sentence. Especially since she a) lied about her age, b) left on her own accord, and c) the guy is an 18 year old kid.

But Natalee Hollway is usually refered to as "missing teenager" or "missing girl" not "missing woman". So why is this dude a "man"?

Still can't rent a car, drink, or sign a legally binding contract, especially if you haven't graduated from high school yet, but you can get married, consent to sexual contact, and join the armed services. Odd selection.
