Lynn, Massachusetts - June 25, 2006

An apparent suicide in Claremont, New Hampshire has led to a possible homicide investigation in Rhode Island.

Police say the body of 48-year-old Gary LeBlanc of Lynn, Massachusetts was found in the parking lot at Wal-Mart in Claremont on Friday.

"They asked us to take a look but until they have more on their end we can't do much."

Lynn police also received a call Friday from Claremont, N.H. police notifying them that a Lynn resident killed himself early Friday morning in that town 20 minutes south of Hanover.

"We have been in contact with Lynn police regarding a possible connection with an investigation they are conducting," said chief Alexander Scott.

State Police crime scene investigators aided by Lynn officers and police dogs spent several hours Thursday searching 11 Wolcott Road and two cars parked in the driveway next to the house.

At one point, an investigator carried three full garbage bags out of the house. Another led a dog into the home's basement through a backyard bulkhead.

A Lynn police officer examined the cars while a State Police investigator videotaped the house.

Lynn police Lt. David Brown on Friday described the Wolcott Road search as "an ongoing investigation."

He would not say how or if Thursday's search was connected to the call regarding the New Hampshire suicide or Lynn's request for assistance in Rhode Island.

City records list Gary Leblanc as the owner of the house and neighbors said another man named "Justin" lives in the home. A man inside the house Thursday following the search declined to speak to an Item reporter.

LYNN -- A suicide note left by Wolcott Road resident Gary Leblanc may be the key to police searching for a missing British man who was active in the gay leather community.

Leblanc's body was found Friday morning in the parking lot of a Claremont, N.H., Wal-Mart, a day after Lynn and Massachusetts State Police searched his home at 11 Wolcott Road.

Police spoke about the investigation in broad terms Monday but they are investigating the possibility that Adrian A.D. Exley - last seen on April 24 - died after a sexual encounter with at least two other men.

Rhode Island State Police Monday confirmed they are searching Arcadia Management Park, a 40,000-acre area in southern Rhode Island, for a buried body at the request of Lynn Police.

Rhode Island State Police Maj. Steven O'Donnell said the search may be linked to a suicide and the revelation in a suicide note that two men killed and disposed of another man who has been reported missing and who shared a similar lifestyle.

"We have not begun a search and do not plan on conducting a search until we receive more definitive information from the Massachusetts State Police and local authorities in Massachusetts," O'Donnell said. "We are not going to search for a needle in a haystack."

Body Discovered In Shallow Grave EXETER, R.I.
...Lynch said Rhode Island police were guided to the remote site by Massachusetts authorities investigating the apparent suicide of 48-year-old Gary Leblanc...

I get the feeling from that article that Gary LeBlanc told exactly where the body was to be found in his suicide note. Since they don't know the identity, he must not have given the name of the victim.

HOPKINTON, R.I. - The body of a man believed to be a British tourist who went missing in April was unearthed in Rhode Island, and authorities say the body is linked to a suicide in New Hampshire.

Adrian Exley, 32, of London, was last seen at a train station in Swampscott, on April 24.

Authorities believe his disappearance is connected to the suicide of Gary Leblanc of Lynn, who killed himself last week in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Claremont, N.H.

Leblanc left a suicide note. On Monday night, Lynn police investigating Exley’s disappearance asked Rhode Island authorities to search Arcadia Wildlife Management Area, giving them specific instructions where to look in the 13,817-acre park.

and
Lynn police told Rhode Island authorities that the body may be Exley’s and that it is linked to Leblanc’s suicide, O’Donnell told The Boston Globe.

Lynn police refused to say Tuesday whether directions to the grave were in Leblanc’s suicide note.

But O’Donnell told The Daily Item of Lynn that a suicide note revealed two men had disposed of a body of a missing man who “shared a lifestyle similar to theirs.”

Exley’s personal profile was posted on a Web site for men interested in wearing rubber and Latex clothes and practicing breath restriction during sex, the Item reported. The case has spread fear through that insular community, according to various postings on a Web site devoted to that lifestyle.

Chaz Antonelli of Quincy, who knew Leblanc, spread the word that Exley was missing on bulletin boards on gay-oriented Web sites. He said he wanted help in finding Exley and to remind the community to be careful when setting up meetings online.

“This is the kind of thing that can happen when you meet someone at a bar and don’t know who it is,” Antonelli said.

If this was a consensual sex act I wonder why the one guy then killed himself? Obviously they knew what they were doing was dangerous but they did it anyway resulting in one mans death. Would he of been charged with murder since the other guy died during consensual sex?
