(Quote)The lawsuit alleges that Bacardi 151 proof rum "emits a high volume of combustible and explosive vapor" which makes it "unreasonably dangerous" and a "defective product."(Quote)

I am not totally unsympathetic to this woman. What happend to her is horrible, but how is Barcardi at fault? I guess sueing the idiot who set the menu on fire that led to her injuries would not make her enought $$$$ so she goes after the large corporation.

ya know, well duh comes to mind when I think "hmmm lighting an alcoholic beverage on fire THEN drinking it may not be to good of an idea" why doesnt she just go eat a Big Mac then sue McDonalds while shes at it, oh and get some hot coffee then sue after its spilt on her because its hot! sorry small rant on how TIRED i am of people not wanting to take responsibilities for their own actions :( ill stop now.

Please don't EVER stop the soapbox of people taking responsibility for their own actions! Sanity needs all the voices it can get!

However, I do believe the coffee at McDonalds gave her 3rd degree burns or something - not just the usual coffee burn.

That being said, I worked at Dept. of Insurance in Florida and some lady was suing the State of Florida because she fell asleep in a library and an ant bit her on the eyelid! I never knew the outcome, but I hope someone told her she was an idiot.

Of for cripes sake... I feel badly that this woman was injured .. however the perpatrator in this case is the moron who lit the menu on fire..not Bacardi. 151 is widely acknowledged as being highly flammable... its not a secret nor does that make it a defective product.. that would be like saying gas is a defective product...its also highly flammable and it only takes a spark from static electricity or a cigarette etc to ignite it... I hate lawyers that have no morals and see a way to file bogus lawsuits or at least unjustified ones..

In this case her suit is justified but only against the moron who lit the menu...however there is no law today in any state that protects against stupidity.

There were a couple of guys in college who were had alot of facial hair and in their infinite wisdom decided that flaming shots of 151 would be great a idea one evening.. both were escorted to the hospital with severe burns to their faces. :slap: It must be horrible to be burned that much .. if this current case is legitimate then those 2 should have sured years ago...and won.

NOW, you tell her. She needs to have that tattooed on her forehead, so that everyone around her, can remind her, prior to injury.

Yeah, I suppose the third degree burn scars won't be enough for some folks! :D

lolololol does anyone have the video of this? I want it!

I find it very appropriate that the attorney representing both ladies (I use that term loosely) in these cases is.......wait for it......Robert Dickman!:D
