Police Worried About a Missing Local Woman

Local authorities are expanding their search for a Springfield woman who's been missing for more than a week and a half.

Bay County sheriff's investigators joined with Springfield police in the search for 43-year-old Tanya Farmer, also known as Tanya Langston.

She was last seen on July 17th at her apartment off Transmitter Road.

Farmer worked at the Lynn Haven McDonalds restaurant, and was wearing her blue McDonald's uniform.

Family members assured authorities this is very unusual behavior for Farmer. Authorities are concerned because they believe Farmer may have been involved in a drug transaction at the time of her disappearance.

They've been using tracking dogs to search the area around Farmer's apartment and a wooded area off of Tram Road.

If you have any information about Tanya Farmer please call the Bay County sheriff's office at 747-4700 or CrimeStoppers at 785-TIPS.

They just did an update on our 6pm news, however, I walked in as it was ending:(

As soon as it is updated on their website, I'll let everyone know.

In case you can't get the link to work, the last person seen with Tanya set his car on fire Monday afternoon (I think the same day she went missing).

There’s a new development in the case involving a missing Springfield woman.

Bay County sheriff’s deputies now have a “person of interest” in the Tonya Farmer case.

Clint Martin Stagg, 32, of Fountain, was charged Friday by the State Fire Marshal’s Office with setting fire to his own car. The incident was initially thought to be unrelated to the missing woman case.

Looks like he is trying to destroy evidence. I wonder where he put her body.

Also, I wonder if he traveled to the Auburn/Opelika area around the time that Lori went missing? Her car was burned as well and no body has been discovered yet.

This is so sad, I had hoped she'd be found alive.

Bay County sheriff?s investigators have located the body of a missing Springfield woman.

The body of 43 year old Tonya Farmer was found Monday morning in a wooded area off State Road 388 about two miles west of Youngstown.

So, they got a confession out of him. This is good....I wish more of these creeps would talk. Just think how many missing are out there that may never be found.

Prayers for her family.

There may have been drugs involved but he didn't have the right to bludgeon her to death nor shoot her or any other method of disposing of a human being.

He owns this. It is his to pay for, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Man Facing Murder Charges in Springfield Woman's Death
Kate Eckman

For nearly a week local police and deputies have searched for 43-year-old Tanya Farmer on the ground and in the air.

Late Sunday night that search came to an end at a shallow gravesite in northern Bay County. Now 32-year-old Clint Martin Stagg is being charged with Farmer's murder.

From February 2008:

http://www.myfloridacfo.com/sitepages/newsroom/pressrelease.aspx?id=2880

[A] Bay County man was sentenced today by County Circuit Judge Glenn Hess to life in prison after a jury convicted him late last month of first degree murder and second degree arson in the murder of Tanya Farmer. Clint Martin Stagg, 33, was arrested in July 2006, and charged with murder and arson...

Evidence presented during the trial suggested that Stagg had gone to Farmer in an attempt to purchase drugs. She got into his vehicle and a short time later an argument ensued ending with Stagg forcefully striking Farmer with a hammer multiple times. After the attack, Stagg drove the deceased to northern Bay County where he buried her body in a wooded area off County Road 388.

At some point later that afternoon, Stagg drove to a gas station and purchased a small gasoline container. The store’s video surveillance recorded him picking out the container before taking it outside and filling it with gasoline. Stagg’s truck was reported on fire a mere 15 minutes after leaving the gas station.
