CA - Courtney Rice, 16, raped & murdered, Fresno, 9 June 2006
September 16, 2006 - Fresno police say they have the seven people responsible for the rape and murder of a teenage girl.
Police announced the arrests at a news conference Friday afternoon.
Chief Jerry Dyer says 16-year-old Courtney Rice was lured into a Central Fresno apartment before she was killed in June.
Her body was found in the back of a pick-up truck days later.
"These are vicious and violent individuals that need to be removed from our streets. Fortunately, we've been able to remove these individuals and put them in jail," Chief Dyer said.
Dyer says six of the suspects are charged with rape, murder and false imprisonment. The seventh is charged with being an accessory.http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?se...cal&id=4568888

As far as I can tell, only four of the seven suspects were prosecuted: Jose Lopez, Michelle Molina, Rodger Alley and Elbert Vargas. It was tough to track down the resolution of this case because of misspelled names, limited MSM, and because California DOC records don't give any info other than the facility where the inmate is incarcerated, so I don't know what sentences Molina and Vargas wound up with.
From December 2008:
Joseph Lopez is the only one who was found guilty of... first degree murder. Jurors also found the special circumstance true a crime committed for a gang's benefit. They decided Lopez was innocent of rape...
Michelle Molina... was found not guilty of first degree murder. Instead jurors found her guilty of the lesser charge, involuntary manslaughter, and not guilty of rape.
Roger Alley will most likely face another trial. Jurors couldn't come to a unanimous decision on the murder charge. A judge declared a mistrial for Alley, but jurors found him not guilty of rape...
Albert Vargas... was found not guilty of first degree murder. Jurors couldn't decide on the lesser murder charges. A mistrial was declared. The jury cleared him of raping Courtney Rice.
Appellant Jose Enrique Lopez, Michelle Molina, Rodger Alley, and Elbert Vargas (collectively, the defendants) were charged with the murder, rape, attempted rape, and false imprisonment of Courtney Rice.
Following a joint jury trial, appellant was the only defendant to be convicted of first degree murder... The jury further found appellant not guilty of rape but guilty of attempted rape and false imprisonment. In addition, the jury found a number of special circumstance and sentence enhancement allegations to be true...
Appellant was sentenced, inter alia, to a prison term of life without the possibility of parole.
[Rodger Alley] is currently in the custody of the California Department of Corrections pursuant to a judgment of the Superior Court of California, County of Fresno, following his conviction by jury trial on June 12, 2008, of first degree murder. The jury also found true enhancements for having served prior prison terms.
On July 28, 2008, Petitioner was sentenced to an indeterminate prison term of twenty-seven years to life.
