    List of Items of Evidence

Leaving aside the microscopic forensic evidence and the clothing of the victim I am trying to compile a comprehensive list of items of evidence found at the crime scene. This is with a view to ranking the evidence according to its relevance to the case.

There are countless rumours and reports scattered through ten years of accounts. What's fact and what's fiction? What's relevant and what's not? Below is a brief list as a start. What have I got wrong? What have I missed? Any assistance in compiling a comprehensive list of FACTS on this is greatly appreciated. - Plenum7.

    RANSOM NOTE

Three page ransom note repoortedly found on the lower steps of the spiral stairs.

    NOTE PAD

John Ramsey gave the notepad to the police when they requested handwritring samples. The pad showed several missing pages, possibly from drafts of the ransom note.

    FELT-TIP BLACK WRITING MARKER

The writing utensil used to write the ransom note. Belonged to the Ramseys.

    FLASHLIGHT

Located in the kitchen? No fingerprints. It was apparently wiped of prints. Suspected by many as the murder weapon causing the skull fracture.

    RED TURTLENECK TOP

Found balled up in the upstairs laundry sink? Patsy admitted arguing with Jonbenet about wearing this item of clothing.

    GLASS WITH TEA BAG

A crystal glass with a spent tea bag in it located on the kitchen table (?) in the kitchen along with a bowl of pineapple and a box of tissues. Burke's fingerprints on the glass?

    BOWL OF PINEAPPLE

Found on the kitchen table. The victim had eaten pineapple a few hours before her death.

    SPOON IN BOWL OF PINEAPPLE

A spoon in the bowl with pineapple. According to some the spoon was bent in a strange fashion.

    PAPER BAG WITH ROPE

    Found in an upstairs bedroom?

    BLUE SUITCASE UNDER WINDOW

A suitcase under the window in the basement. Supposedly used by an intruder climbing through window (according to some).

    BLANKET IN SUITCASE

A blanket in the suitcase found under the basement window. The blanket revealed semen stains belonging to John Andrew R.

    SWISS ARMY KNIFE

Found in the basement laundry. Knife belonged to Burke. Housekeeper claims that she had confiscated the knife from Burke and had hidden it in an upstairs closet. Possibly used to cut the cord used to strangle the victim.

DICTIONARY MARKED AT THE WORD "INCEST"

Reports that a dictionary was found (open?) on the sunroom table (?) with an ear marking the word 'incest". (Or is this a rumour?)

    BIBLE OPENED TO PSALMS

John Ramsey's NIV Bible was open to Psalms and the acrostic SBTC backwards. ???

    PAINTBRUSH

A broken paintbrush used in the "garotte" around the victim's neck. Paintbrush from art equipment belonging to Patsy and stored in the "train room" in the basement??? The broken brush retained the word "Taiwan" from "Made in Taiwan" inscription.

    GREEN CHRISTMAS GARLAND

Green Christmas garland found in the victim's hair and matching the decorative Christmas material decorating the spiral staircase of the Ramsey house.

    WHITE CLOTH CORD

Found around the victim's neck and tying her wrists above her head.

    BLACK MASKING TAPE

Placed over the victim's mouth. John Ramsey removed this from the victim prior to moving the body up from the basement. Black?

    BLANKET OVER BODY

The body of the victim was found in the winecellar underneath a blanket.

    SECOND BLANKET

According to police reports there were "two blankets on the floor in the center of the room" where the body was found.

    BASEBALL BAT

Found outside the house leaning against a wall (???). Some reports say it was Burke's. Possible weapon in head wound.

    GOLF CLUBS

John Ramsey's golf clubs. Taken as evidence by the police. Possible weapon in head wound.

    A BRICK

According to police inventorys a brick (described as a red clay brick) was taken from the scene into evidence. Possible weapon in head wound?

Nightgown found beside body. Or as some have speculated, a gown from a life-size doll.

The Duct Tape - some facts gleaned from an array of previous threads.

    1. It was placed over the victim's mouth after death. No tongue print or saliva on the tape and such a strip of duct tape could *never* remain in place if the victim was alive and struggling. It would not have been an effective gag. This has been demonstrated. The tape could not have performed any practical function in the murder - it is part of the staging.

    2. It seems the duct tape had previously been used for some other purpose. It was not a fresh strip of duct tape but was being reused.

    3. It was a new type of duct tape and so recently purchased. The manufacturers had changed the adhesive in their tape only recently.

    4. The duct tape brand was ShurTape.

Thanks Wrenbird. 1 x pink Barbie nightgown.

    from a previous thread:

From the 1998 interviews while reviewing crime scene photos:

PATSY RAMSEY: "It is her Barbie nightgown."

TOM HANEY: "Is that hers or her Barbie doll's? When would she have worn that last, do you know?"

PATSY RAMSEY: "Well, she didn't wear it that night because she had her -- she had the long underwear pants and her little white shirt. And the night before on Christmas Eve night she wore the pink little (inaudible) that was under her pillow."
