    VT - Man pleads innocent in chain saw attack

    link

    A 22-year-old Warren man pleaded innocent Friday to aggravated domestic assault and other charges after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend's car with a chain saw. She was in the car but was not injured.

    Vermont State Police and Washington County Deputy State's Attorney Ellen Kryger described the incident this way:

    About 5 p.m. Thursday, police received several 911 emergency calls about a "male armed with the chain saw cutting into an occupied motor vehicle" which was trying to leave the parking lot of the Valero convenience store near the intersection of Vermont 100 and Vermont 17 in Waitsfield.

    An unidentified bystander tried to intervene and the alleged attacker, Brody R. Burke Jr., hit him in the head, Kryger said.

    Winooski police credit a quick thinking victim with helping them make a quick arrest.

    Winooski police picked up Timothy Mumley of Burlington Friday Night, just a few hours after a woman reported a man tried to abduct her. She told police he got out of his pickup and tried to pull her inside as she walked along Weaver street with her toddler. He was scared off by another driver.

    Also this is our the news;
    No verdict yet in case of teenage hunter who shot farmer

    ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- A jury deliberated for more than five hours Friday without reaching a verdict in the case of a 19-year-old deer hunter who fatally shot a farmer as he sat in his tractor.

    The jury deliberations, which continued past 5 p.m., came after an emotional 2 1/2-day trial that centered on whether Collin Viens could be held responsible for the Nov. 23, 2005 death of Rejean Lussier, 60.
