Red Oak, IA-There are new developments in the search for a missing woman near Red Oak, Iowa. April Corter vanished on September 25th. Investigators finished searching a field and some woods near the town on Friday.

They did find some clues they will take to a lab to be analyzed. The tests should determine if the clues are connected to April's disappearance.

Deputies also confiscated a car belonging to Corter's boyfriend.

Montgomery County Sheriff Tony Updegrove is asking hunters in the area to be on the lookout for anything unusual.

Wonder why they confiscated the boyfriends car? This doesnt sound good for her.

No, it doesn't sound good. On one of the news sites, there was a headline that said her friends were no longer cooperating with investigators but when I clicked on the link, the article did not mention her friends at all. Makes me wonder.

An Elliott man has pleaded not guilty to abducting and killing his girlfriend and dumping her body in a well in southwest Iowa.

Daniel E. Miller, 25, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in the death of April Corter, 24, of Red Oak.

Corter was reported missing to the Red Oak Police Department on Oct. 13 by relatives.

Her body was found Nov. 27 in a 42-foot well near Oakland, about 20 miles east of Council Bluffs.

An autopsy showed she was strangled. Her body was found with plastic zip ties around her neck and ankles, according to court documents.

Investigators believe Miller killed Corter in Pottawattamie County and dumped her body in the well.

Miller was arrested Nov. 29 on a first-degree murder warrant in Walker, Minn.

He is scheduled for trial Feb. 27.

If found guilty of the murder charge, Miller would face a mandatory life prison sentence without the possibility of parole.

Chief Deputy County Attorney Jon Jacobmeier said at the beginning of the investigation more than 70 people were willing witnesses to ongoing domestic assault in the relationship as well as drug abuse... 20 witnesses were prepared to testify in front of District Court Judge Greg W. Steensland until today, according to Jacobmeier. He said almost all of the witnesses developed "selective amnesia" and all but four recanted their intended testimony...

Wilber gave credit to Melissa Miller, the defendant's sister, for coming forward with the location of the body in the first place. He said thanks to her tip, the case made it to court; and thanks to her memory lapse it could go no further...

Miller pleaded guilty to the amended charges, waived his right to a pre-sentence investigation and was sentenced by 11 a.m. He must serve two consecutive 10-year prison terms and pay $2,000 in fines. Steensland also ordered Miller to pay $150,000 restitution to Corter's estate or heirs.

Miller took a plea for kidnapping and willful injury, but the murder charge was dropped.

Can't they charge the sister with obstruction of justice? She obviously knew what happened in order to tell LE where the body was. How can she explain that away? She has to know how it got there.
