AL - Wedding Dress attacker manhunt
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit said DNA and other physical evidence confirmed a multi-state serial rapist is on the loose.
Detectives know this rapist, called the Wedding Dress Attacker, is victimizing women in Tuscaloosa and Colorado Springs, Colo., because of DNA evidence. They suspect he may also be terrorizing women in places like Madison County, Ala., and Oklahoma, because of his unusual pattern and fetish.
DNA evidence has linked the Wedding Dress Attacker to two rape victims in Tuscaloosa. His last known victim in town was raped in 2001. Detectives said the rapist often finds his victims by going through the paper and luring real estate agents to empty houses, as he did in Tuscaloosa. When he raped the Tuscaloosa real estate agent five years ago, he first called and left a recorded message at her office. More commonly, he calls women who list wedding dresses for sale in their local papers.
America’s Most Wanted is taking the manhunt nationwide Saturday night, and detectives suspect they may not just get tips on who the man is, but they’ll also find more cases he’s involved in, and more victims.
“We are looking at other cases. We’ve actually found one from 1981 where a female was raped and killed in Tulsa, Okla. It may not be just a rapist, but also a murderer we’re looking for,” said Lt. Loyd Baker of the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit.

Interesting. The AMW site has a fourm dedicated to people trying to profile this guy - it's really fascinating. Apparently AMW is going to air more details of the crimes this Saturday. I kept waiting for someone to start a thread here and get to profiling - it's pretty weird how this guy operates and some of his physical characteristics are strange as well. Thanks for posting about this!

That's scary. I NEVER meet a man alone to show a vacant house. We travel in pairs if we don't know the client. Only one goes in the other stays with the phone ready in a locked car. The same thing happened to a RE agent about 20 minutes from my city last year. She barely made it.

I taped AMW and watched it this morning. I was remembering a similar case in Tulsa, think it was around 1980. We had moved in 1979 and a couple built a house next door, so it could have been anywhere from 80 to 82 or 83. Anyway I believe it was her neice, had a wedding dress for sale. She had gone home from work at noon to show it. Was raped and murdered. I don't think they ever caught the guy. If you are familiar with Tulsa it was around 41st and Yale.
Wonder if it could be the same guy?
And, Sadie, they have a site you need to check out if you are in realestate. Think it is called RealSafe. Hook you up with a cell phone, you take a picture of the person you are meeting with, take a picture of him, his car, etc. I believe it is immediately transmitted to them. When you are finished showing, you again notify them. Or something like that. Check it out.

I think you should send in a tip to LE also Sabego. So many times cases slip through the cracks because they are old and not under current investigation and that was some time ago. It can't hurt, right? The connection is not always made and this is a multi-regional case that does apparently date back that far.

One the AMW home page coverage of this a murder is mentioned, but I think it says Oklahoma city. That may be a mistake because a poster mentioned in a post that the producer told him Tulsa. Since you watched the program, did you ever hear them say that the guy smells like urine or why they think he wears an adult diaper and if his hand has purplish coloration? I'm having trouble getting that straight.
