Well, definitely the best thing for the case. Probably not the best thing for Raven. Raven has definitely benefitted from Nifong being such a slack DA.guera said:Nifong getting thrown out would probably be the best possible thing for this case.
You are soooo right!guera said:Nifong getting thrown out would probably be the best possible thing for this case.
Wow, my beloved, nearby Philly must be REALLY special - they topped 400 in 2006. Of course, the population is significantly higher too.curious1 said:The numbers I found show there were 35 murders in Durham in 2005. Now consider they had a pop of 204,845 in 2005 and nearby the of Raleigh with a pop of 341,530 had only 21 murders in 2005 and you can see that Durham is a bit 'special'. I am searching for how many are still unsolved.
Those are what disturb me most.JerseyGirl said:So far, all I've found is the end of year crime report for 2005 that was published on March 20, 2006. As of that time, here's what it says:
There were 35 homicides and one fatal officer-involved shooting ... during 2005.
5 gang-related
10 drug-related
3 domestic violence
6 arguments
5 killed during robbery
3 resulted from child abuse
3 motives not determined
2 double murders
1 quadruple homicide
Only 2 were stabbings.
Only 1 was a white female, (Janet).
Investigators have cleared 22 of the 35. 13 open cases as of March 2006, including 2 cases in which charges have been filed, but no arrest has been made.

Hi All, I have been away for quite some time. I continue to wonder when something will happen with this case. I too am very disturbed by the Durham stats, and have put my house (only a few blocks from Janets) on the market and am moving to small town midwest. I see things in Durham as getting much worse before they get better...I will continue to follow this until the end...Raven behind bars for lifeLTUlegal said:Those are what disturb me most.
No need to apologize, I think maybe it may be my blunt way of delivering my posts at time and sometimes written words may come off as insenstive. I will try my best to explain my feelings towards the Government of North Carolina as a whole.curious1 said:Okay Okay. I am NC born and raised and proud of it. I grew up not very far from Durham. Now those of you that are focusing on this being in NC need to understand that Durham is different from the other big towns in NC. Things like this are not a NC problem :snooty: , they are a DURHAM problem.
I know that we all feel very frustrated that there has been no break in this case and I hear some saying that this case is gettting lost in all the stuff going on in NC. No it is getting lost for 2 reasons: 1) all the crap with Nifong 2) all the other murders that take place in Durham. Durham has a huge crime problem. As crass as it sounds to say this, Janet's murder is only one of many in Durham still unsolved. I am still completely amazed that the Peterson East trial ever took place and the guy was convicted. Of course they had a different DA at the time, one who was more concered with justice for the people than making a name for himself. So lets keep the focus where it belongs on Durham and not bash NC. Remember....the citidiots in Durham voted him in this time. He was appointed the last time and the people had no say, but they did in the last election and for some unknown reason they elected him??? :banghead: My only guess as to why they voted him in is because he went after the rich boys and the majority of the citizens thought 'yea, stick it to the rich boys over there at Duke thinking they are better than us.'
Now if this southern gal has been oversensitive I sincerly apologize...ya'll. :blushing:
Now we can "Nifong" someone when we want to trump up criminal charges based on flimsy evidence allegedly for political purposes. In short, when we want to screw up someone's life.
Sadly, I'm agreeing with you Bobbi.:sick:Bobbisangel said:Does anyone honestly think that Raven will ever be arrested for Janet's murder? It seems that if LE had the evidence to arrest him it would have been done already. If they didn't get the evidence then it is probably to late.
I think that the guy has gotten away with murder and that he is well aware of it.
