Calculator parts in chili lead to recall

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hormel Foods is recalling about 104,000 pounds of Stagg canned chili from stores in 16 states because it may contain plastic and other material from a calculator, the Agriculture Department said Wednesday.

No injuries have been reported. Hormel, which owns Stagg Foods and is based in Austin, Minn., issued the recall after receiving complaints from consumers.

The chili was made on Nov. 24, 2003, and distributed to retail stores in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin.

The chili was sold in 15-ounce cans labeled, "Stagg Chili, Steak House Reserve, Chili with Beans, Hearty Beef with a Kick of Green Chilies." The cans were sold six to a case.
