DeKalb police are searching for a boy that was reportedly abducted near Hambrick Elementary School at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The alleged abduction happened at the corner of Hambrick Road and Anderson Road. One witness to the incident has been questioned by police.

Investigators say the boy was abducted by a man, possibly a Hispanic male, driving a navy blue SUV with tinted windows. The SUV had a dealer’s tag with a partial license number of DL-86. The witness was not able to get the other numbers. The tag is reportedly hanging sideways on the vehicle.

According to Officer Ariel Toledo of the DeKalb County Police Department, a woman driving by said she saw what she described as a Hispanic male or a light-skinned black male forcing a child into the SUV.

Police said they are trying to confirm what the woman said she saw.

No child has been reported missing as of this point, but police said they are contacting school systems in the area and are treating the report very seriously

Thank you mistivon for posting this. This is a very unusual situation. It seems like the reports may be accurate; but, no child was reported missing.

Twenty hours after a reported abduction near Hambrick Elementary School, no parents had come forward to say their child was missing.

DeKalb County police continued to patrol the area around the school Thursday after receiving the abduction report about 4 p.m. Wednesday. They were told that a boy was abducted at the corner of Hambrick Road and Anderson Road. The lone witness to the incident has been questioned by police.

"What we're doing is, we're trying to see...any children who've reported absent, we're going to look into that to be able to identify the child but at this time we don't have any further leads, no child has been reported missing but we're still taking this matter seriously," said Ariel Toledo of the DeKalb County Police.

The witness said the boy was abducted by a man, possibly a Hispanic male, driving a navy blue SUV with tinted windows. The SUV had a dealer’s tag with a partial license number of DL-86. The witness was not able to get the other numbers. The tag is reportedly hanging sideways on the vehicle.

Police said they are trying to confirm what the woman said she saw.

Could have just been a petty fight between father and son.....?? strange story. However, I think it would be doable to run down a vehicle with dealer tags - might take a while....

REGARDLESS of what the situation turns out to be, I applaud this lady for reporting what she saw to the police.

This is EXACTLY what Craig Akers spoke of when he said that people turn a blind eye nowadays and don't want to get involved. This may turn out to be nothing, but if so what has been lost other than a little time on a few peoples part? BUT, what if were something??? What if a child were in trouble??? After seeing how all of the people who came into contact with Shawn Hornbeck over the past four years and chose to ignore the signs and not to get involved, aren't we all of the opinion yet that it's better to keep a kid safe than be sorry???
