VT - UVM police chief warns women of rise in assaults

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The chief of the campus police at the University of Vermont has issued an alert about a recent rise in violence against women.

Chief Gary Margolis, who issued the alert on Wednesday, said it was prompted in part by a sexual assault that occurred earlier this month.

Margolis said the victim was walking near the campus when she was assaulted by a white man in his early 30s, wearing a brown leather jacket, a hooded blue sweat shirt and a New York Mets baseball cap.
