This happened in the outskirts of a small farming community 45 minutes or so from Boise. Three of the children that died were from one family, the other 2 were from another family. The family that lost the 3 children lost a 2 year old a few years ago.
The Walker family recently moved to this farming community. My son ran cross country with Megan Walker before she moved. :(
The kids were in the car, underwater, for about 2 hours. :( Rescue crews got there as soon as they could, but they had to "suit up" and get their gear in order before they could get in.
My thoughts and prayers go out to both of the families, and to everyone affected by this horrible tragedy.

OMG, that is just awful. :**( Prayers to both families. Sometimes there just aren't adequate words.

What a tragedy....too sad for words...thoughts and prayers to the families involved.

I know, dingo and englishleigh. :( I can't get the kids out of my head. I keep thinking about what they went through.

Yes, and not just that, but the parents. I can't even begin to imagine their pain. One family had already lost one child, too. :**(

This is so sad. They found open scriptures in the car.

God Bless these children and their families.

Oh, I know, englishleigh. :( Thankfully, they have their faith and the other kids that need them (maybe that will keep them from completely losing it), but I can't even get my brain around the enormity of their loss.

Prayers for the families and may the children rest in peace. :(

Did the article say a 15-year old was driving? Poor kid ... I get scared driving on icy and snowy roads and I'm in my 30s. It must have been scarier for a young girl.

Gosh, this is terrible. I feel so bad for the families. I pray for them to somehow have strength to get through this terrible time.

So much tragedy lately. The news is depressing :(

Yes, the driver was 15. :(

In alot of farming communities, the kids get their licenses at 15.

Ironically, a bill was being debated here in the House at the time of this accident, regarding raising the driving age, and limiting the number of children that could ride in the car with these young drivers. That said, I don't know that her inexperience made a difference...the roads were icy (maybe the kids shouldn't have been on them that morning?). This was a group of really great, straight-arrow, over achieving kids...this is such a loss.

I'm sure the parents are going over and over in their minds, the what-ifs and if-onlies.

You're right, PFM...there is so much tragedy around us. I just have to step away from this from time to time because it gets to be too much.

I too was surprised that a 15 year old could get their license. Here in NC, you must be 16 and have had a permit for one year. You also cannot have more than one other child or teenager in the car with you at a time unless they are a relative. That restriction is lifted after 6 months of a good driving record.

This is just horribly sad!

How tragic! My thoughts and prayers are w/ the family. My heart really hurts for them.
