    National Crime Victims' Rights Week

Welcome to the Office for Victims of Crime

The OVC home page was released on April 1, 1997. We will be continuouslyuploading new information, and encourage you to visit our site often!
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) was established by the 1984 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) to oversee diverse programs that benefit victims of crime. OVC provides substantial funding to state victim assistance and compensation programs—the lifeline services that help victims to heal. The agency supports trainings designed to educate criminal justice and allied professionals regarding the rights and needs of crime victims. OVC also sponsors an annual event in April to commemorate National Crime Victims Rights Week (NCVRW). OVC is one of five bureaus and four offices with grant-making authority within the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. OVC's Divisions include:

    What’s New at OVC

The National Center for Victims of Crime has launched VictimLaw, a comprehensive, online database of state, federal, and tribal victims' rights laws, developed with funding from the Office for Victims of Crime. VictimLaw is a unique and groundbreaking resource, offering user-friendly access to more than 15,000 victims' rights statutes (state and federal), tribal laws, constitutional amendments, court rules, and administrative code provisions. Future additions to the database will include state attorney general opinions and summaries of court decisions related to victims' rights. VictimLaw will be updated regularly and is available free-of-charge.

    Dear Forum,

I apologize for not getting this post up earlier. I've got the flu and I've been moving in slow motion for about a week now.

    Bless each of you.

Justice for Janet and her Angel baby!
    Bless her family and friends
who never stop looking for clues
who never stop believing in a loving God
who never lose faith in their love for each other
and who have begun to reach out others.
    ~!~
    Justice for Janet!
