Foradora sentences Punxsy man to 220 years in prison for sex crimes Written by Alison Baker
BROOKVILLE - "I could sentence you to over 500 years (in prison)," Judge John Foradora told Douglas D. Kesslar, a 46-year-old Punxsutawney man who was sentenced Wednesday to a minimum of 220 years in a state correctional institute for numerous sex crimes. A jury convicted Kesslar in October 2006 for 89 sex crimes committed against two victims - aged eight and 10 at the time of the abuse - during 2004 and 2005.
Wednesday, Foradora sentenced him to 20 to 40 years on each of the 11 counts of rape of a child.
Foradora merged the other charges in the case to bring the total aggregate sentence to 220 to 480 years in a state correctional institute.
"You deserve more than that," Foradora said, added, however, that it would be pointless to make the sentence any longer.
"Out of all of the child sex cases I've had ... this case has the worst, twisted, heinous and cruel set of facts I've ever seen," said Foradora, listing his reasons for giving Kesslar the equivalent of a life sentence, which some believe should be only for murderers.
