KANSAS CITY, Mo. – An east coast millionaire is offering a lot of cash to help find a metro woman who has been missing since July 5, 1984.

Kimberly Carter's mother is still looking for her daughter after 22 years. Now she is thankful someone else is, too. "It's like she really did vanish without a trace," said Vera Owsley

Interesting.......trying to post them side by side....not having any luck.

To me they don't look like the same person. But, in 22 years people can change a lot. It looks like in the old photograph KC has dimple on her left side (right side in the pic) right next to the lip. I don't think I see it in the picture on the right.

Their noses don't look the same, but that could be the angle of the picture.

Afterwards she called a friend, indicated she was in some kind of trouble, and asked for a ride home. Carter only had time to say the phrase "20 in Kansas" before the line went dead. She never arrived home.
One of Carter's friends claims he heard from her on July 7, when she called him between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. She told him she was on Interstate 35 in Kansas and asked for a ride home. Her friend told her he could not pick her up, and she said, "One of the men said he would take me home." Carter may been seen riding a green Chevrolet Nova during this time period. She has not been heard from since. Carter dropped out of high school before graduation, and had her first child at age 15. At the time of her disappearance, she was allegedly leading a risky lifestyle and had some unsavory acquaintances. Carter's family believes she met with foul play, as it is uncharacteristic of her to abandon her children. Her case remains unsolved.

Bumping for Kimberly. It's unfortunate that the reward that was offered back in 2006 didn't lead to a conclusion and she's still missing. I can't find any other updates since then but I hope her case gets solved and her family can receive some answers.

The articles posted on this thread no longer work but you can read them on the Project Jason thread for Kimberly:

Kimberly Carter- Project Jason Thread

In one of the articles about the reward, Kim's mom (Vera Owsley) is interviewed and she talks about the difficulty she had getting media attention for this case. Over the years, she heard less and less from the investigators since no new tips were being reported. Owsley raised Kimberly's three children. She has kept the same number and address, just in case.

The DoeNetwork page states "She may have used the names "Laranda," "Lorandra," or "L.A" paired with the surname "Anderson" and/or one pronounced similarly to "Sharpcheck."

Pretty close to "Lawanda"
