Metro police set up a roadblock Friday afternoon on Central Avenue at 3rd and 4th Streets while they continue to search for a missing 4-year-old.

Officers handed out fliers and asking people for information in the case.

Meanwhile, two of Cano's uncles announced a $5,000 reward for Cano's return to be offered even to kidnappers if they return him.

This is just so sad. I'm praying that it's not, but what are the odds? It's sickening to me that someone could do anything to a little child. I hope they find whomever did this.

The Jefferson County coroner’s office said today that it would take 24 to 48 more hours to positively identify the body of a young male found yesterday near Churchill Downs.

But homicide detectives told the parents of 4-year-old Cesar Ivan Aguilar-Cano, who has been missing since June 29, “that everything is pointing to this being the missing boy’s body,” said Christopher 2X, a spokesman for the family.

This poor little guy! Why, why, why!!!!? I hope they find the person responsible really quickly. I wish I could help, or at least just be there when they do find them. :furious:

Police press search for boy's killer
Dogs detect scent of human remains

Louisville police have searched more than a dozen residences near where the body of a missing 4-year-old boy was found, including a registered sex offender's apartment where police dogs smelled human remains, according to authorities and court documents obtained by The Courier-Journal.

The Churchill Downs-area apartment is near where César Ivan Aguilar-Cano disappeared June 29 and where his body was found in a city garbage truck July 7. He was found in a bag wearing only a shirt, with a Walgreen's receipt nearby. Police said today that they have no suspects in the case and that the apartment's resident, who told police he talked to Ivan the day he disappeared, is one of many "persons of interest" in the investigation.

Refresh me-isn't this the guy who "cooperated" with police when the child went missing, but who couldn't return to his home because he had been outed by the media as being a convicted sex offender? His attorney made "poor pitiful me-I am just Joe good citizen" statements? I might be confused...

Sounds like him. The media interviewed his dad last night and his dad said that he didin't do it, he wouldn't do something like this. I was like, Yeah, right, then how did your son become a registered sex offender?? Idiot.

I told my husband early on when Ivan went missing that they need to knock on the doors of all the registered SO in that area (and trust me, there are many) and do total searches of their houses. I'm willing to bet big bucks that Ivan was alive for several days before this killed him. Garbage pick up was delayed a day because of the holiday and it had to be out early (my MIL lives near there).

He's eligible for the death penalty. I hope he gets it. Heck, screw the trial and just go ahead with the needle.

I feel so horrible for Ivan's mom. Granted she should not have been letting him play outside by himself but what a loss for her. It was a big ordeal for her to get approval to leave the country to bury Ivan in her home country and to get approval to get back into the country so she could be involved in the investigation.

I hope this 's arrest helps the family somewhat.

April 17, 2009

The state Court of Appeals has denied The Courier-Journal's motion to overturn a judge's decision sealing the evidence in the murder case against Cecil Eugene New II, the Louisville man accused of killing 4-year-old César Ivan Aguilar-Cano in 2007...

...In an order entered last week, the appeals court ruled that New's right to a fair trial, especially because it is a high-profile death penalty case, overrides the newspaper's First Amendment right to public access of the evidence.

They are seeking the death penalty. I did not know this.

I located articles in the Louisville Courier Journal that are only available by fee. From what I can determine there may be a problem with some of the evidence linking to C. E. New. In that it can't be directly linked to him. (fiber evidence).

Cecil New pleads guilty the day before his trial starts!!! He finally admits to killing little Ivan!

Justice for Ivan!

Parents of slain boy testify at man's sentencing

The parents of a slain 4-year-old boy said at sentencing Monday for the man convicted of killing their child that they still struggle with the youngster's death.

Prosecutors called Cesar Ivan Aguilar-Cano's parents to the witness stand during a sentencing hearing Monday for the man convicted of the 2007 kidnapping and killing.

Cecil New pleaded guilty last month to murder, kidnapping and other charges and is facing the death penalty.
