Police are searching for two men they are calling "compassionate robbers" because they patted a clerk on the back during the crime.

Wheat Ridge Police say just after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, after several customers had left, the two men walked into the Family Dollar Store at 6090 W. 44th Ave. with a shotgun. They demanded the clerk to open the cash register, according to police.

The woman behind the counter started to cry and police say that is when the men patted her on the back and told her "it will be OK." Police say the men never pointed the gun directly at the clerk.

She was not injured.
