Co-workers last saw Andrews, 44, leave her nursing job at Methodist Manor Home in Seaford around 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 16, 1990. About 2 p.m. the next day, her 1985 Mercury Cougar was discovered abandoned behind a business on U.S. 13 north of Seaford.

Her purse and personal belongings were on the ground just outside the driver's door. Her keys were on the trunk lid.

"Due to the things found outside the car, it was automatically suspected that foul play was involved," Hudson said.

Andrews, a mother of two grown daughters, had divorced in 1982 but wasreconciling with her ex-husband. Police named him a person of interest in her disappearance, but he was never charged.

Andrews, who had black hair and brown eyes, was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed 133 pounds.

2007:

Seventeen years ago, Andrews finished up her shift as a nurse at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford. After calling her fiance at around 10:45 p.m., coworkers saw her leave around 11:15, according to police.

The next afternoon , police say they received a call about Andrews's empty car behind a building on Route 13. Her purse was on the ground, her keys on the trunk, but Sandy was gone.

At homicide headquarters in Dover, investigators say it's suspicious that Andrews left her purse, her keys, and her family behind.

"Time is our enemy in cases like this," said Sgt. Robert Hudson of the Delaware State Police, "because as time goes on, it's harder and harder to get information."

Thick folders hold Sandra Andrews' files, but they do not have any new answers - just more dead-ends. Still, police say they will solve this mystery.

"We're always optimistic," said Hudson. "If we're not optimistic, you lose that desire. And we have that desire to solve every case."

Details of Disappearance​

Andrews was last seen at 11:15 p.m. on November 16, 1990, when she left her nursing job at the Methodist Manor Home in Seaford, Delaware. She has never been heard from again.

Her white or beige 1985 Mercury Cougar with a brown top was located at 4:00 a.m. the day after her disappearance, parked behind a storage building on the east side of northbound Route 13, north of Seaford. Andrews's purse and other belongings were scattered on the ground near the driver's side door, and her keys were on the trunk lid.

She left behind two adult daughters; one of her sons died at birth and the other died in an accident as a toddler. She had divorced in 1982, but was reconciling with her ex-husband and thought they would probably get married again. He has been named as a person of interest in her disappearance. Her family described her as a "very spiritual" and "prim and proper" woman who frequently exercised and didn't smoke or curse.

Authorities believe foul play was involved in Andrews's case. Her case remains unsolved.
