    TX - Alondra Diaz-Garcia, 4, Houston, 1 June 2007

Authorities and volunteers with Texas EquuSearch continued their search Tuesday morning for a 5-year-old girl who volunteers say is in danger.

Alondra Diaz-Garcia has been missing since early June.

Volunteers say they found a shoe in the search area, but could not identify it as belonging to the girl.

The girl's father, Ronaldo Diaz, was supposed to return the girl to her mother on June 3 in a meeting at a McDonald's restaurant in southwest Houston, but police say he never showed up.

A spokesperson for EquuSearch tells FOX 26 News an abandoned vehicle owned by the father was found with mud and grass on it. Volunteers are searching southwest Fort Bend County near land owned by the father.

Mexican girl claims to be Texas woman's daughter after mistaken identity mishap
    Monday 11 May 2015 16.34 EDT

A girl claiming to be a Houston woman’s daughter illegally taken to Mexico eight years ago has turned herself in to a court that mistakenly sent another girl to the US against her will last month, an official said on Monday.

The official, who was not authorised to be quoted by name and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the court was evaluating the girl’s paperwork and identity documents.

The whereabouts of Alondra Díaz have been unknown since 2007, when her father allegedly took her to Mexico without her mother’s consent.

In April, a judge erroneously sent another girl named Alondra to be reunited with Houston resident Dorotea García, who was convinced she was her long-lost daughter.

The case attracted international attention after video circulated on social media showing Alondra Luna Núñez being taken kicking and screaming from court by police. Days later, DNA testing in the US proved that Alondra Luna was not García’s daughter, and she was returned to her family in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Dorotea Garcia said early on Wednesday she has been able to hug her daughter, Alondra Diaz Garcia, for the first time since 2007, when the girl’s father took her into Mexico without Garcia’s consent. The two were reunited late on Tuesday in a courtroom in the western state of Michoacan...

While Alondra Diaz Garcia and her relatives acknowledge that she is Garcia’s true daughter, Mercado said late on Tuesday that she would wait for DNA test results, which she expects Friday.

“They (the relatives and the mother) did not want DNA testing carried out, but the prosecutor asked for it, to be certain,” Mercado said.
