This one has been bothering me for a while. First I'm almost 100% sure that there's a typo. In my research I've managed to find a Glynn Academy in Brunswick established in 1788, but no Flynn Academy. This typo appears on all places he's listed. I emailed the contact person to no avail. Shortly after my email the page was rearranged, the class ring pictured was moved, but no response and no change of wording. I thought about trying to track down a yearbook and Richard suggested this as well however he's listed as a possible birthdate of 1940 making him 34 years old in 1974. So it's likely the ring was a friends, girlfiends, siblings, childs or victims. It also lists him as having no clothes (in New Jersey, in December?????). I've emailed some Glynn academy people just asking if the ring did indeed look like a Glynn Academy ring but also got no response. I know this stuff can seem creepy if it's not really what interests and drives you. Any further help or ideas would be great. Not sure why but this one pulls me!

In for a penny, in for a pound. This one got to me too.

So I'm hip deep in open windows right now, between doe and charley and the NJ site. I did find that school you mentioned in GA---I think it's a good hit. I almost called the man that's the head of the alumni commitee, but I figured I'd paroose the web first. I'll update as I find things.

Here's one for a start, although the height is off, which I've heard happens. Heck, if you can mess up the first letter of the school's name anything is possible.

Yours:

It's a start, and I'll keep looking.

I REALLY appreciate you taking the time. I've emailed the NJ police asking again about the ring as well as the clothes and if Mr. Tunstall was ever ruled out. I did email 3 Glynn academy people and never heard back. I emailed a gentleman that runs an alumni site, a woman that does geneology and history research on Brunswick/Glynn county and an alum I found on Myspace who was also a preacher so I thought he may be more responsive.

I am off to investigate Mr. Tunstall and the UID on the newspaper archives.

Thanks!

Is there any more information on this case? How did he die, who found him and where was he found etc? Atlantic City was a very poor area back then. He may have been from there.

I would certainly question all of the information which has been made available. When one or two typos appear, how do you know that there are not more? It is not uncommon for one website to borrow all their information directly from another website.

It is most likely that both the Police site and the football site have misspellings for the name of the school. It is most likely that the school is in fact Glynn Academy High School.

The company which made their class rings could very likely identify the ring positively. Usually the inititials of the owner can be found inside of class rings. If the ring company still has receipts or records of who bought their rings, along with sizes, the search could be narrowed down, since the class year (1974) is known - assuming that is not also a typo.

If a yearbook is available, perhaps that might also help identify this man.

Glynn Academy was founded in 1788. The Glynn Academy High School Campus is located in Old Town Brunswick and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The location of the first building for the Academy is unknown. The second building was constructed in 1840.

In 1915, this building was moved to Sterling, Georgia and serves as their community center. Glynn Academy moved into their third new building in 1909, currently the site of the Prep School. Memorial Auditorium is housed in a building completed in 1923 and is fashioned after the Louvain Library in Belgium. The physical construction of Glynn Academy has spanned several centuries and this is reflected in the diverse styles of architecture located on the campus.

I've tried contacting former students, the school website as well as a local historian. My emails have all gone unanswered.
I asked all kinds of questions when I emailed the detective, the response to my emails didn't address any of the questions I asked. I did receive a response from the contact for Mr. Tunstall and he they were not a match.

Bumping this case. I have still been working on this. I never did hear back from the guy from Flynn academy. I think that Flynn was not even opened until 2004, so that can't be it anyway. Maybe that school name was changed or the school closed? Or maybe Flynn was his last name and he went to Brunswick Academy? There are so many possibles. Maybe we should contact LE again and see if we can get a good clear picture of the ring?

What did this guy die from? Maybe we should be searching for missing men from Georgia. Has someone already done that? I also wonder if it's possible he was there helping build the casinos back then. Has any one called the school??

William J. Flynn Academy of Health Sciences and Medicine
It is in Atlantic County NJ, where this guy was found.

This looks like an adult ed school, ie; GED, which would make sense if he was in his 30's in 1974.

The ring says Brunswick however. Teonspaleprincess, did you ever hear back from that football player?

Maybe you could email the athletic director at Lenoir-Rhyne College where the footbal player played and ask if he could ask the player?

No, I tried twice but never heard back.

Every lead I tried was a dead end. I tried former alumni, the town librarian, town historian no one got back to me, the detective that I emailed seemed annoyed. I really think this has potential.

The ring is from Glynn Academy in Ga. so I am assuming this guy was from there also.

I wish we could see a clear picture of the ring. It may say Glynn Academy because we sure can't find a Flynn Academy.
