Good for this mama. That is what it takes to bring attention to a case.

I hope this mom and family find justice for their little girl. How ironic that she was a grief counselor at a Correctional Facility, she probably never imagined that grief would strike so close to home for her. God bless them.

Strange, I never heard a single word back from her after a few attempts...so I finally gave up. Here is the latest in the case:

Tulsa police tell FOX23 news the 2004 rape and murder of 18-year old Brittany Phillips could soon be picked up by the International Cold Case Investigators group.

The Tulsa Community College student was raped and strangled in her Southeast Tulsa apartment.

Her mom will drive a van across the country, as she tries to bring national attention to the unsolved murder.

Maybe she has too much to deal with right now and feels overwhelmed.

" It's been five years since Tulsa college student Brittany Phillips was brutally murdered inside her apartment, and still the case remains unsolved.
In the past five years, DNA from the crime scene has been checked against thousands of potential suspects. But there have been no matches. Investigators now suspect Brittany may not have known her attacker"

The Unsolved Murder of Brittany Phillips and Her Mother’s Caravan to Catch a Killer

In 2004, 19 year old Brittany Phillips was raped and murdered in her apartment in Tulsa, OK. Since that time her mother, Maggie Zingman, has organized a Caravan to Catch a Killer. She has ruled out over 2000 suspects comparing DNA records across the country. Maggie continues her quest until the killer of her daughter is caught and brought to justice.

Brittany Phillips, a 19-year-old college student, talked to her mother on the phone on Sept. 27, 2004. Three days later, with no word from her, an officer went to Phillips’ apartment and discovered her body. Phillips had been raped and strangled. New reports reveal that she had no enemies, no boyfriends and no drug problems.

Since the murder, Brittany’s mother, Maggie Zingman, has participated in six different “caravans,” cross-country trips in a vehicle wrapped with her daughter’s story, to bring national attention to the case. In 2008, a local filmmaker, Tommy Wallace, who wanted to help solve the case, made a movie titled “Who Murdered Brittany Phillips?” with three different scenarios of what could have happened that night, according to previous news reports. Zingman also updates the case on her website, www.brittanyphillipsmurder.net.

Video of Jane Velez Mitchell interview with Brittany's mom:

On September 27, 2004 a sexual predator brutally raped and murdered Brittany Phillips, a 19-year-old college student. Phillips was raped and suffocated in her 2nd floor apartment in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Police believe the killer either broke in through the French doors, or somehow had access to her apartment.

The killer has never been captured and the police have no suspects...

HNGN has recently learned that law enforcement sources are following solid leads into Mexico to try and track down the person who killed Brittany. They believe the perpetrator has committed other crimes despite the fact there have been no DNA matches. Detectives have recently gone back through the roster of people who lived at Brittany's apartment complex (including their relatives) at the time of her murder. Their investigation has even taken them to the West Coast - to a man who admitted killing someone in Tulsa. That lead turned out to be bogus, but at least the case remains open and leads are being followed up on a weekly basis.

Despite such progress, Maggie Zingman is growing tired. One of the first detectives assigned to the case has retired, and she is also having trouble raising money for a reward fund. She also feels that the media isn't paying enough attention to her or her plan for important, life-saving legislation.

"If you're not famous or the murder isn't bizarre enough, no one cares," she says from the road that is her home away from home. "I have thought of giving up, but I won't. I will never stop."

    A new tip;

"A person had contacted us and said this particular individual may be involved in the Brittany Phillips homicide, and at this point we're trying to locate that individual to see if his DNA is in CODIS and that's what we're waiting on,” said Majors.

Police are obviously keeping the details of the new lead very quiet until they can track down the person they're looking for.
