    NV - Steve Fossett, 63, Yerington, 3 Sept 2007

Fox News just reported that Steve Fossett, the millionaire guy who is always trying to break flight records, is missing in his private plane, since Monday night. I can't find any articles about it yet.

Last seen taking off from Hilton Ranch, Nevada in a single engine plane Monday evening. He was the first person to fly around the world in a hot air balloon and is 63 years old.
Search teams are combing the rugged mountains around the area. Not sure where he was headed.

FoxNews.com now has a Breaking News banner but no article yet.

The cable news bleep said he did not take a parachute with him, and that his mission was unknown for this morning.

NICE looking fellow, full of adventure. Hope he is alright.

    Thank you so kindly.
My husband came home and went right to bed.
He is the same age as Steve, and another one of their friends passed away on Sunday morning after being diagnosed with advanced liver cancer just one week ago. Hubby is not handling this well.

It is very hard on him.
We heard about the fuel in the plane only able to last about 4 hours.

I just read this on Foxnews.com and came straight here, because news usually gets here faster than on the network sites.

    I sure hope he's okay.

Petra, you and your hubby have my thoughts also...

    Thanks JE--

    From BBC news-

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/

A plane flown by record-breaking US adventurer Steve Fossett is missing in the Nevada desert, US federal aviation officials have said. Mr Fossett was reportedly last seen taking off from the private airfield at the Flying M Ranch near Yerington, Nevada, on Monday evening.
He was flying a blue and white single-engine Citabria plane.
A Civil Air Patrol spokeswoman, Major Cynthia Ryan, said a search for the 63-year-old was under way.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said authorities had been alerted when a friend reported Mr Fossett missing.

Steve is a tough old boot. I suspect he is waiting by his plane right now for someone to pick him up

    Sir Richard Branson

"The Civil Air Patrol is looking for him. One problem is he doesn't appear to have filed a flight plan," Mr Gregor told the Associated Press news agency.

Mr Gregor said the Air Force's Rescue Co-ordination Center in Langley, Virginia was overseeing the search.
"They are working on some leads, but they don't know where he is right now," he was quoted as saying.

oh no... my thoughts are with y'all, Petra. I have followed Steve's adventures over the years and appreciated that he donated his gondola from his record breaking around-the-world flight, to us at the Smithsonian A&S. I am hoping his adventuresome spirit is keeping him safe and he is okay...

The latest report on Fox didn't add much to what we already know.

He is an amazing man, and he's got the spirit of survival. I just know it.
