Man Accused of Assaulting Girl in Dressing Room, Pitts, Pa
Aug. 21, 2007 According to police a 5 yr old girl was molested with a coat hanger in the dressing room of a department store in.
More:HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- According to state police, a 5-year-old girl was molested with a clothes hanger in the dressing room of a department store in Westmoreland County.
Police said the girl showed her mother what she said a man did to her at the Gabriel Brothers store on Route 30 in Hempfield Township.
Police said Clint Helmick, 44, of Canonsburg, Washington County, was in the store returning merchandise when he noticed the girl shopping with her mother, brother and aunt
While the adults weren't looking, police said Helmick used a clothes hanger to inappropriately touch the girl between her legs while pleasuring himself.
"You can't take your eyes off your kids," said Trooper Jeanne Martin with Pennsylvania State Police. "You need to know where they are at all times to ensure their safety."
Court papers said the girl screamed for her mother and told her what happened, while the girl's aunt chased Helmick into the parking lot and down Route 30 before losing him.
State police checked surveillance tape, and the store used personal information

I could watch the video but couldn't hear it. Can someone tell me if the little girl was in the dressing room alone? I NEVER ever allowed my daughters to enter dressing rooms alone. (That along with public bathrooms.)

The thing is she probably wasn't in the dressing room alone. She was probably wandering the store- maybe not even far from her parents when she was lured away and taken to the dressing room.
Employees working there probably wouldn't say anything, because after all it could be a father taking his daughter shopping.
What gets me is how brazen the attacks are. It is well known that most stores have cameras. He had to know he might be on tape. He had to know the child had family right there and he had to know that the employees and everyone would be notified when the family noticed her missing. Yet he did it anyway.Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........
Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Are dressing rooms and changing rooms the same thing? If so I thought they would have seperate gender ones?
