THE 911 CALL

KSP Dispatcher: KSP 911

Child: Last night I was afraid to call, they shot two people, my grandma and mom.

KSP Dispatcher: In what county?

Child: Rineyville, Kentucky.

KSP Dispatcher: What’s going on right now?

Child: I was afraid to call last night.

KSP Dispatcher: Did the KSP come out last night?

Child: No.

KSP Dispatcher: They didn’t?

Child: No

KSP Dispatcher: Who was shot last night?

Child: My mom and my grandma.

KSP Dispatcher: Your mom and your grandma?

Child: Yes, and one of my grandma’s dogs. The only people here are me, my sister and my brother.

KSP Dispatcher: How old are your sister and your brother?

Child: My sister is a few months old, my brother is only 4.

KSP Dispatcher: How old are you?

Child: I’m 9.

Police Respond to Double Murder

RINEYVILLE, Ky. - Police found three children inside a Hardin County home with two dead adults.

Officials discovered the bodies after one of the children called police.

Investigators said they were going to treat the deaths as a double-murder.

Officials believe the women were shot on Monday, even though they were called on Tuesday.

Police said after hearing gunfire, the children became too scared to call for help until Tuesday.

Double Murder in Rineyville

Police in Kentucky say they have no leads in the murders of a mother and grandmother.

It happened Monday night in Rineyville, that's south of Louisville. Three young children were in the home when the two women were shot. Police found the victims after the nine-year old called 911 the next morning.

Those poor children. Can you imagine being 9 yrs. old and too terrified to make a phone call. The 9 yr. old probably knows who did this. This just makes me ill.
 
Wow I used to live right by Rineyville been there a million times. I am really shocked something like this would happen there. It's just a small country quiet Kentucky town. A couple years ago there was a gay man in Rineyville who was beaten to death and stuck in a suitcase where he was found by police. (hate crime)

Troopers said there was no sign of domestic violence or forced entry at the killing scene.

Court documents obtained by a Louisville television station show Burke died shortly before finalizing a rocky divorce. Her hearing was set for Friday morning.

Police have not named Brent Burke as a suspect. They said they are questioning him and that he has cooperated with the investigation so far.Investigators said Burke's first ex-husband, a soldier based in Ft. Lewis, Wash. has been cleared of suspicion in the killings.

Court papers reveal fear of ex-husband by Rineyville murder victim

LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- WAVE 3 has obtained the divorce papers of one of the victims murdered Monday night in Rineyville, Tracy Burke. According to the court documents, her estranged husband -- Brent Burke -- is accused of having a violent temper. Police confirm they have talked to him about the murders. Victim Was Seeking Divorce

Tracy Burke was living with her three children and her ex-mother-in-law, Karen Comer, in a home in Rineyville.

Burke and Comer were shot to death Monday - four days before Burke and her husband Brent's divorce case was scheduled for a hearing.

State police say they're following some good leads, which include talking with Brent Burke.

Here we have a case where the mother leaves an abusive situation, tries to protect herself and the 3 children from the abuse, moves in with her ex-inlaws and still ends up dead. From what info we have, it looks like she did everything that we here at WS would have told her to do. Those poor babies.

Tracy Burke had requested a restraining order against her then husband, Brent Burke, saying he had an anger control problem. Further into the court documents, Tracy states while Brent was deployed in Egypt, he was sent home with of an alleged mental issue after threatening to kill a lieutenant.
Investigators say, Brent is not a suspect, and he that he is cooperating.
"He's very open and very cooperative right now. About everything," said Trp. Pavey.
After the divorce decree was signed, Brent was ordered to pay $750 a month in child support immediately. And in 90 days would have to pay $1,000 to Tracy to recoup some of their debt. That payment would have been due this October. We were able to find Brent Burke's MySpace page. On it a title that states, "I hate money hungry women."
Trp. Pavey says, "We knew about the MySpace page, they looked at it. Somebody else had told them (detectives) about it. They are looking at everything."
Pavey goes on to say," We've got a couple of detectives at Fort Campbell right now. Fort Campbell authorities and Mr. Burke are cooperating fully with us." (more at link)

Wow I wonder what rank he is in the Army? To have to pay $1000 a month is alot for a enlisted soldier. Not that his children are not worth every last penny i'm just saying... I noticed both of her X husbands were in the Army & she was staying at her first X husbands mothers house...Could it be she was trying to get back with her first husband and it made her new X hubby just snap?...Oh what a confusing mess!! Poor kids.. My heart goes out to them little ones.

except i would have told her to leave the very first time she saw a clue about his temper. once you are with him a long time it gets worse. once you have kids with him it gets worse. once you marry him it gets worse. it is very rare that a man kills a woman who dated him for 3 months and they break up. it is often we read about a man who kills his ex. i would have still told her to leave all this time later. i honestly think a man that will kill you for leaving him will kill you if you stay just slower. after growing up in a house with some of the worst abuse you can imagine and after reading these forums i figure you guys can imagine alot.. leaving is still the best advice i can offer.

if he is the killer he is a liar. he was interested in his self only. to kill the mother of the kids with the kids in the house because of his anger and pain shows me he is only able to care about himself. btw i liked the use of sarcasm with the "how nice of him". anger tends to bring out my sarcastic side and its nice to see i am not alone. :blowkiss:

Yes, the 9 yr old is her child with her 1st husband. He's probably lucky to be alive.
