IL IL - Serial Killer in Joliet?

Haqikah "Kekah" Suggs, 13, is found dead by two horseback riders in Joliet's Pilcher Park on May 28th. She was raped, shot twice, had a plastic bag covering her head, and was set on fire.

Then, another girl, Kaylor Cheronda Spells, 16, is found by a jogger on Aug 26 in Dellwood Park in Lockport, IL (a suburb of Joliet).

Dellwood Park and Pilcher Park are approximately 4 miles apart.

SIMILAR FACTS:
* Both girls were black.
* Both girls were young mothers.
* Both girls attended Hufford Junior High School in Joliet at one time or another (not sure if they attended together).

HERESAY:
* Someone on the Topix thread has details that Kaylor Suggs was raped and her face was beaten in, but I couldn't find that in the media. They say they saw it on Fox News the morning of the discovery in Dellwood Park.

Police have been VERY tight-lipped about the case. Lockport and Joliet residents have not gotten any information regarding the official cause of death of Kaylor Spells. It appears they aren't doing much for Haqikah either. As a resident of this area, I want some answers and I want to get this perp(s) brought to justice!!!

Great, why does Illinois have all these serial killers. I have lived in Illinois all my life and I can't believe how many serial killers come out of this state. Maybe its the weather. Anyway, I hope hey catch them soon, these are very young girls at a very vulnerable age.

I'm from Chicago, now residing near Joliet and this scares the hell out of me! It hasn't been confirmed as a fact yet, I'm just curious because there are lots of similarities between the two murders.

You know, I never thought of that as an option. Kaylor Spells' mom was interviewed and it didn't seem like there was an indication of that.

Especially since there's talk that both of them were raped then murdered.

Girls who are physically similar and murdered in a similar manner are always cause for consideration of a serial killer. The connection they both had to the high school is very interesting. Of course, given some of the other crime cases I have been posting on recently, I am beginning to loose a lot of faith in our teenagers - which is wrong. I am sure there are many out there who are wonderful (including my own) - but I would be in that High School looking at the absentee list on the day after these girls went missing.

I wonder if they've thought to compare the DNA of the two babies. Could they have the same father?

Police Target 5 Unsolved Murders

"Will County prosecutors plan to sit down Tuesday with representatives of three police agencies to discuss the unsolved murders of three black women and two girls, authorities said Monday.

Police are exploring the possibility that the slayings of three Joliet women, all of whom had histories of prostitution, are related. The bodies were left in public places after the women were slain at other locations, said Pat Barry, a spokesman for Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas."

How are there no apparent similarities between the two girls??? Both were teenagers, both were still in middle-school, both were raped, both were lift in public parks! That sure does sound like quite a few similarities there!

There was a separate post on here somewhere that involved a case (not sure which state) where 2 woman were found murdered and the bodies burned. One was pregnant and the other middle aged, i believe. Does anyone remember this or know of the link?

I do think the two teenagers murders are related. Also the three other woman are most definitely related. I am wondering though if they are two seperate killers or one killer changing techniques. Were the three women killed before the two girls. Maybe the perp started with prostitutes and then went to younger girls. We had a serial killer in Peoria, IL where I live. His name was Joseph Miller and he killed quite a few prostitutes before being caught and one he dumped on my street, the others not too far from us. But he changes his MO and killed an elderly woman that he was wanting money from.

Wow, can't believe there are two of us on here. Yea Larry Bright was the more recent one, he wasn't too far from me either. Joseph Miller was back around 1993, I believe. I remember because in junior high we took a tour of the jail and they showed us where he was being held. We were all scared to death needless to say. The bodies were dumped so near to us and two of the kids that went to my school found two of the bodies. I think maybe they come to Peoria because there is such a big prostitution problem.

I really doubt this is gang related, it sounds like a serial killer. All the bodies were burned, all females, all were black.

Does anyone know if there are any links to the 3 Joliet women who had prostitution histories that were murdered? Maybe it is the same killer, who has gotten more brazen. First prostitutes, got away with it, then other victims..?
The 17 year old who was charged with Kaylor Spells' murder may have been a copycat attempt to get away with it by the perp, if it was him.. i don't recall reading her body was found burned, if i am wrong, please correct me on that.
In June, Haqikah Suggs body was found partially burned head covered in a plastic bag, once again asphyxiation. I had read her family didn't know where she was most of the time (link):

It sounds like maybe the killer first attempted to burn the whole body, yet failed, and then towards Bunn & Lewis' cases succeeded in burning the whole bodies (in dumpsters) perfected MO?
I hope LE are taking all of these into consideration as being done by the same person..
