CT - Osbourne Richards, 56, Cromwell, Oct 2007
...in a vain effort to locate Osbourne Richards.
Richards, a 5-foot-10-inch black man who weighs approximately 240 pounds, has been missing since mid-afternoon Saturday, when he went for a walk and failed to return.
Police said Richards has a medical condition and stopped taking his medication before he left his home at 289 Main St.
Further complicating the search: Richards left home without his wallet or identification, police said.
When he left, he told his wife he was going for a walk. When he did not return within two hours, she contacted police.
Richard's wife told police it was unusual for her husband to go for a walk.
In the hours after he was first reported missing, a dog from the Rocky Hill Police Department tracked a scent from Richards' home to the Bridge Street area on Saturday evening.

The body of a man who was found floating in the Connecticut River on Thursday morning has been identified as that of a missing Cromwell man.
Capt. Roy A. Nelson said the body of Osbourne Richards, 56, of 289 Main St., was "identified based on a collection of circumstantial information."
Nelson said that information included clothing and especially "distinctive jewelry."
The jewelry "was so distinctive," Nelson said, "that Richards' wife was able to positively identify it."
The jewelry and other personal possessions recovered with the body have been returned to the family, Nelson said.
An autopsy, which was conducted at the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner in Farmington, also determined that Richards died from drowning.
"Right up until [Thursday], I was hopeful we would locate this gentleman," the chief said. "My thought was that he might be disoriented, or that he might have been hurt or that he had been taken ill."
