Oklahoma City police are asking for help in locating a man that went missing 10 days ago.

The family of Manuel Salgado, 33, contacted police and said he had not been seen in Oklahoma City since Oct. 7, police Sgt. Paco Balderrama said.


Salgado is in the military and failed to show up for drills on that day. Police would like to check Salgado's welfare.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.

They say the man's wife might have killed him and that the witness might hold the clues.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma County authorities are seeking the public's help in finding a potentially key witness in the case of a missing Navy veteran who they think has been murdered.

Manuel Salado , 34, of Oklahoma City has not been seen since Oct. 8, and Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said Friday that authorities believe that he was killed by his wife, Exondia Salado, 36.

But police have not been able to find Manuel Salado 's body and have not filed any charges in the case.

Authorities began investigating tips that Manuel Salado , a member of the Army Reserves, might have been killed before a missing-person report was filed, First Assistant District Attorney Scott Rowland said.

Exondia J. Salado was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, whose body has not been found. She was arrested Tuesday in Florida.

Salado, 36, told a witness she shot Manuel Salado twice in the bedroom of their Oklahoma City apartment on Oct. 8, 2007. . . She wrapped the body in plastic and a sheet before burning it at an abandoned house, the witness told police.

Authorities have been unable to locate the house.

A judge Friday ruled the evidence against a murder defendant is sufficient for a trial, even though her husband’s body was never found.

She also apparently researched on the Internet how to cut up a body, how to keep a hostage, how to build a barbecue pit and how a body decomposes, according to other testimony. One article put into evidence was "Butchering the Human Carcass for Human Consumption.”

His body was never found, but his wife's murder trial is going on right now. The jurors heard yesterday of the very long list of incredibly gruesome computer searches made by his wife over a period of a few months.

RIP Manuel

Does anyone know if this case is still being looked into?
I wondered why no one ever asked Exondia's kids about this investigation. I know her daughter did an interview for the Snapped episode, but her other kids may have some sort of information. They were young then but now that they're older, I think it's worth asking what they remember.

Details of Disappearance​

Manuel was last seen in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 8, 2007. His wife, Exondia Jaye Salado, later said he came home from his Army Reserve basic training, left several days later and never returned. He was reported missing after he didn't show up for a weekend of military drills.

Manuel left his cellular phone, checkbook, credit cards, passport, military identification and driver's license behind at home. He also left behind his young daughter. Police found a box of bullets in his home, with six of them missing.

In December 2008, Exondia was arrested in Florida and charged with her husband's murder. Photographs of her are posted with this case summary.

The day of his disappearance, Manuel had come to a friend, very frightened, and said he thought his wife was trying to kill him. He initially wanted to spend the night with his friend, but after speaking to Exondia on the phone he changed his mind and decided to come home.

When investigators looked at her computer, they discovered online searches for how to dismember a human body, recipes for human body consumption, how to build a barbecue pit and how a body decomposes. Exondia allegedly told two friends she shot Manuel to death, put his body inside a plastic box, kept it in the apartment for a week and then burned it on a grill in another home outside the city.

Her defense attorney argued that Manuel was still alive and had gone to the Dominican Republic, his birth country, to be with another woman, but Exondia was convicted of murder in April 2011. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Manuel's remains have never been found, but foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.

An Oklahoma County jury last year found Exondia J. Salado guilty of first-degree murder. Salado, now 40, is serving a life term without the possibility of parole.
